Making the shield more OP would not make the game better imo. It would encourage high skilled solo players to play even more recklessly if they knew the chances were higher for them to survive a down. The knockdown shield is not supposed to be a ticket out of jail IMO, saving you when you die in a bad position. It should save you when getting randomly sniped knocked from long range so that they just cant finish you off OR save you if you play as a team and have a teammate close by that forces the enemy who killed you to fight him instead of finishing you.
If you know how to move with a knockdown shield (many players dont realize you expose your legs when you move to the side), then the knockdown shield is OP. Logic dictates that if you die in a position/situation where the enemy players can AFFORT to waste 2-5 mags to destroy/finish you through your shield, then you either died because of egoistic/bad positioning OR because your team is getting stomped by the other enemy players which is just fair game that you should die. Bottom line is that you DID lose the fight if you got knocked. The knockdown shield is just a second chance if it was a close one. Dying 1v1 far away from your team should not save you because of an OP shield.

It is really just pointless in having the knockdown shield because it has too many bugs that make it useless. I don't even bother running to pick up a knockdown shield because I know how bad and pointless it is to even use it. My friend actually gave a real good hint of how to make a quality of life improvement to it. Make sure you have a default knockdown shield that you don't pick up, just remove it as loot all together except the LEGENDARY one and then the knockdown shield level up all together with your body shield. Perhaps even the legendary can be equipped only if legendary armor is present and remove the legendary knockdown aswell from the loot.

This isn't just knockdown shields. It's also revive shields.
They kiss it, and ignore it.
They run around you, you block everything, and you still die.
It's easy to destroy.
My purple knockdown shields get wasted in 5 seconds. But it's in those 5 seconds that your allies can swoop in and save you.
My greatest issue is I have allies right beside me, yet they focus on me instead. I'm downed you morons! Leave me be! If my allies don't get to me soon I'm dead anyways. 20 second timers (ok a little longer but it feels that short).
Also, has anyone noticed that sometimes the downed timer lasts only 5 seconds? Why does that happen? It's supposed to last 30+. I mean that literally. The bars circles so fast, you can't even blink before you're a deathbox. You get downed, screen turns red, You're a deathbox. HOW? You didn't last long enough to be finishered!
In many cases, It's near the final ring, and no one in your squad has been downed yet.
And, as for the solo thing, I never go solo.
But, for the solos, it should force them to split and fire from many directions, or get close and USE A FINISHER! THATS WHY THEY EXIST!!!!!
What's the point of finishers existing if no one uses them, or no one stays in the game long enough for people to use them?

And for NewCastle, what's the point of his revive shield if people can kill him from the front without shooting his shield? Kiss it or stand on his charge and you can ignore the shield in your face. That isn't right!
If a NewCastle gets his back in a corner, you should be forced to either Destroy The Shield or USE GRENADES. Don't use exploits that treat it like it don't exist!
I don't care if y'all call those non-exploits, I call them Exploits! Because they are bugs in the game that grant in-game features that shouldn't exist. Like Smashing Rampart's turret on a rock in Olympus to turn the ally manning it invisible except for their guns. Exploits! They're Exploiting parts of the system that need to be fixed. Exploits!
- 2 years ago@Zulkiers So if you have not noticed, each knockdown shortens your time before bleeding out. It is a way to punish the usage of knockdown shields because when it actually was working the knockdown shield was an effective tool of cover. Also some way of punishing players that constantly get downed. The timer increase upon respawn and mayber over time but that I have no confirmation on.
