Knockout Feedback

Its an interesting mode and it just feels like Battle Royal with objectives.

Overview:

1) The zones are very hard to identify on the map and in general.

2) The zones appear too early, which causes players to hotdrop at the same zone. Nothing wrong with competition, but the problem is there's like 9 or so zones and only a few gets players dropping at them due to being closer to the drop ships, (which there are two dropships, this of itself is alright.)

3) There's no easy indication that you're going up or down in the scoreboard other than a sound effect, (which is often hard to hear), and looking at the top right of the screen, (which isn't ideal most of the time). Yes, it does show a "your team is above/below the knockout threshold", but for the most part, you're not going to really notice this, and it only appears in the last minute or so of a round.

4) The general flow of the game feels overwhelming and its easy to lose track of what you're suppose to do. It also doesn't help that the point system is a bit confusing and hard to understand what exactly is going on.

5) One of the biggest issues by far, cheaters. There's a TON of players going into this mode with aimbot, wall hacks, and anti-recoil. Most of these players are also playing on low level accounts. Some of the players are also bots.

6) Whenever you die, (even if your teammates are still alive), you seem to spectate the enemy team that had killed you almost every single time. You can see where the enemy team all are, what their EVO level is at, (even the points required to level up), their pings, everything, until you respawn.

7) The death recap tab doesn't even show anything most of the time, (it would be "loading", and then it will act like nothing is there to be reviewed), and when it does work, its difficult to report any player for any reason, (such as cheating), as it either doesn't let you report, switches tabs on you, or disables your ability to interact with the menu altogether.

8) When getting knocked out, the animation effect is blinding. I don't have any health issues, (such as epilepsy), but this effect hurts to watch and it doesn't feel like it should be something in our faces when we get knocked out.

I've played 4 matches before writing this, and this is how those matches played out:

Match 1) Everyone croweded the points near the dropships, where most of the players were either acting like a bot, (standing still, punching the air, walking into walls), or they were cheating. My team was one of the first ones to get knocked out.

Match 2) Same thing as match 1.

Match 3) Roughly the same as match 1 and 2, but I manage to get a few kills with my team, (who were randoms), and kept us alive for another round, in which we then got knocked out.

Match 4) Made it to the sudden death round, and placed 6th. 4 of the teams were decent and legit players, while the last of the teams was just aimbotting everyone, (and they weren't even hiding it).

9) The pacing of the mode feels too fast in general, while capturing the zones feels like it takes forever.

Overall, if I have to rate the mode, it would be a 3/10.

@reconzero For those who want to fight real players, they would still be able to. Besides, if the bots become decent enough, it would be hard to tell who's who anyways.
  • Knock out if the worst game mode ever…gamers still quitting even when respawn is available…and half the kids dont know the goal is to get to a zone not to sit around looting.  there should be a 15 min penalty for raging in this mode…the same happened when the revival mode was released, EA have tried everything including making lifeline useless with unlimited revivals and people are still raging and early quitting. Kids want a mode like battle royale fortnite with unlimited respawns and a big rumble team kill target but serious gamers who play apex wants a strict team oriented sport where getting the banner is part of the team and not raging….nothing they have done has resolved this impasse! Get rid of knock out!! Mode!

Since Rumble is currently in rotation for Knockout, I gave the mode another try. My opinion on Knockout has changed, (but not for the better).

    - The point system is mostly confusing.

    - You can make it to sudden death if you run around collecting EVO harvesters and doing other things that gains EVO points such as scanning survey beacons. I did that in a match as a test, and we only had to fight at the end of the round before sudden death.

    - There's no point in killing other players as it awards zero points outside the 5 points per 800 damage dealt towards EVO.

    - [Bug] When respawning with your team, you sometimes cannot break off from the jump master

    - [Bug] If you get enough points to not get knocked out moments before the round ends, it will still knock you out. I've just had this happened where I got the team enough points to stay in the match a second before the round was over, but the match still knocked out my team despite us qualifying.

Overall, this mode feels like it was meant to be a TDM version of Arenas type of mode, not a Battle Royal mode. When this LTM is over, I won't be missing Knockout. Revival was much better mode than Knockout, it should come back soon.

Bettter yet, get rid of the quit button until the team is utterly eliminated, with no chance for respawn. Then people can't leave a game until their whole team is gonners. They become locked into the game until it is over by full elimination. Even closing the game and relaunching would send them right back into their unfinished game. No more missing members.
Alternatively, I did suggest a sort of tech based necromancer type legend who could pull spectators into their team to replace lost team mates, and revive their allies for a period of time after said ally becomes a deathbox.
Also, dead allies would become shadows, like that of shadow royale. Yes I heavily based the legend off shadow royale. I only got to play that mode once and they've never brought it back since. I loved that mode. Sometimes I wish it was a permanent mode. And the darkness of the setting, was sooooo fun. Sure people complain they can't see a thing, but I find that part of the fun. You have to use your ears more. It's soo fun.
All the dark modes they've made so far since, I find way too bright.
You should come see how bright it is at night where I live, then tell me those maps are too dark. I can see the trails out here at night, and there is no light. Literally. Well, save for occasional moonlight that slivers its way through the trees.
Sand is quite visible even in pitch black. It's interesting to behold.
I'd love a darkness map that is THAT dark.
I've been highly disappointed by "nightmode" maps so far, and reading complaints of its too dark just blows my mind, as it's not anywhere near as dark as a moonlit sky in my area. Now take away the moon. That's the nightmode I'm looking for.

@Zulkiers Yeah, even with unlimited respawns, my randoms are leaving as soon as they're downed like its pubs. I just want to finish the Wattson challenges, but its hard when I have to "capture a zone" by myself.
