Leaver Penalty is going to ruin this game.
This is going to kill the game, watch. One of the best things about Apex is if you are playing with an unfavourable person you do not have to play with them, you can leave the game and instantly join...

This game can't have a punish system for multiple reasons.
But here is a scenario that everyone will experience when a punish system will be implemented.
You drop someone with your team.
You die because punching is overpowerd and buggy in this game ( please remove the knock back from punching... )
You are already pissed ( at least i am when i get punched down )
You stay because a good teammates picks up your banner.
Your good teammates goes sit in hidden corner.
Hey what are you doing dude? please revive me?
Now hes laughing at you telling you.
You gotta watch me now for the next 10 min or deal with the punishment this game gives you for leaving.
Then turns on the rick roll music over the in game voice chat.
Now imagine this happening 2 times in a row.
Now you don't have to imagine apex is completely dead.
Also when a players leaved the squad instantly after dying
Why be upset about it?
How is punishing him going to help you win this game?
leaver Punishments should only be implemented when the games gets competitive like a matchmaking system with leader boards / ranks etc.
And a leaver would interfere with the rest of the squads progress.
When a guy leaves your squad at the moment the only thing is does is make the win extra sweet. ( 2 person win )
Hell i even got a few people in my friend list because we duo'd the win.
All of you guys advocating for leaver punishment don't really grasp how terrible it is for this game. You CAN'T have a leaver punishment system in this game with its current team of 3 structure, and here are a few reasons.
Someone raging at you and then leaving isn't a reason for leaver penalties, it's a reason for reporting players for poor behaviour penalties.
When I get placed with a jumpmaster that wants to land at the furthest point possible from the starting point, I have very little interest in being in that game. Why should I be forced to land at the end of the map, not see anyone until its 5 squads left, shoot at maybe 2 people and effectively waste 15+ minutes? They implemented solo jumping probably to avoid situations like this. So now I jump solo, get in on some quick action, die, and go to a new game because my team still dropped at the furthest point in the map. Except now I can be punished because I didn't want to play farmville legends?
What about when you queue with a duo team and they're total dbags? Yea sure you can mute them and start doing your own thing, but then you get downed and they just * you around some more. So I'm expected to sit there even longer and wait for the timeout while these guys are being *? This is yet again another reason why you need a bad behaviour reporting system.
And we all know that the random disconnects and crashes haven't been addressed yet, people still disappear for no reason to no fault of their own. You'll end up punishing people because the game crashed or they disconnected and they will lose all interest in playing the game again.
You can't jump into a game where you're forced to play with randoms and expect a perfect game every time. Poor behaviour should be addressed because some people are jackoffs, but there's a lot of reasons for someone to leave a game and a leaver punishment system will definitely ruin the game. This isn't League of Legends so stop trying to compare them to one another.
One more point i'd like to say to the people going "you joined solo, you knew what you were in for" - that works both ways you know, you also joined solo so expecting a random to stick around with his finger up his * for 5-10 mins before it's safe to respawn him and then the "worse" possible case scenario - deathbox in the storm so now he has to replay the early game... 10 minutes into the match, is quite unreasonable.
I reiterate yes, make a leave penalty, an fairly harsh one in fact... once / if ranked que based on mmr is implemented. Adding it to pub games is a waste of time , resources and will just make the player base MORE toxic because your "forcing" people into an activity they no longer want to participate in (negative reinforcement is a big no-no psych 101), instead of just letting them blow off some quick steam.

What you didn't seem to grasp is that this ship has sailed long ago, because we do know as fact that the penalty system has already been implemented when it was turned on by mistake.
So we are now past the question "Is a penalty system coming?", because it definitely will come. The real question is only: when?
This means that your whole argument is pointless, because the basic decision has already been made weeks ago. And when full play games even like Overwatch can implement such a thing, then Apex Legends for sure can too!

Sure thing; problem is that communication by the devs is still really bad on everything.

A bad design decision, even if been made, can (and should) be reconsidered.
So yes, there definitely is a point to tell the devs why leaver penalty is a questionable (to say the least) decision and should not be implemented even if the option presents somewhere in the game code.And when full play games even like R6 Siege can be just fine without such a thing, then Apex Legends for sure can too!
- @Vruhag Right, I'm well aware of their oops when they released it accidentally and I was more addressing my comments to people that think it's a good idea for a leaver system in this game. My comment isn't pointless because if Respawn is actually paying attention to these forums then they need to reconsider how they penalize players. I still don't think a leaver system should be implemented at all, but a player report should be.

I still don't think a leaver system should be implemented at all, but a player report should be.As long as there are no other game modes available, the game is being designed as a three man team game, and meant to be played that way. Squads with an early leaver have a big disadvantage due to this, which makes it unfun for the staying players.
So unless they are introducing new game modes and they want to ensure that the game stays fun for most of the player base, they need to make a decision: either penalize the quitters, or just let it run down the hill. Either way what they're doing, one side will complain.
The way to go for this is an automated penalty system - and if the quitters cry, then so be it. It's by far means the smaller part of the community which would complain in the long end.
