Did you know that if you open your inventory and go into the squad tab, that there's an option at the bottom there to mute your squad-mates' pings? It might be a workaround for you. :ealight_bulk:
- @warslag Not really a solution at all, as you don't know they will spam ping, and when they do, you probably don't have time to go toggling options.
Why pings are spammable in the first place, I don't know... - @Bones3O Completly agree. Some people are really obnoxious with this feature. I could be running to them or stuck in a fight and they still spam it the entire time. And then there are the people who spam it even after you've picked up the banner. There is no point in being able to spam it. Like you said it's kind of impossible to concentrate when that ping is all you can hear. Same with people relentlessly pinging the same enemy in a fight. How is anyone expected to function when someone is having a seizure on the ping button in the middle of a gunfight... and the option to mute a squad-mate doesn't do you any good when you're being shot at.
Those are newbies. It’s generally understood that is bad etiquette. A player does not need to ping their banner at all. If they ping it more than once, I’m not grabbing the banner.
- @Bones3O Good idea. I just had a game and we got seperated running from the storm, they ran into trouble, got killed and started to spam ping and not stop. I didnt have time to stop and turn their pings off. I went in their direction and when i got close they disconnected before their banners expired..... wtf....
Same for pinging an enemy every single second when you are knocked etc.
I seen newbie players spamming that over and over again. And the pro/experienced player alive doesn't have time to mute their ping.
When you are spamming that, you are preventing your own teammate from listening to what the enemy or enemies are doing.
- @Psykotiq Uhm... I repeatedly ping people that are moving (when I am downed but not dead) because each ping updates the location of the player, even if just by 2 pixels. To me this is very useful because I don't want to run around a corner pre-aiming at a target I know is there, that has moved, or changed direction just to get shot in the head because I hesitated or missed because they moved.
Have you tried voicing your concern to people that are doing it and asking them to stop? There should be a feature where if you are downed and can physically see the person when you ping it will track the person so your teammates can see them. That will give it more of a real time experience and will stop people from constantly pinging. I do the same thing to let people know the direction of the way the player is going. But it's annoying because of the sounds and player voices.
Don’t. Ping the enemy once then stop so your active teammate can HEAR. If the opponent starts trying to revive or something urgent where you want your team to come in NOW, ping a couple more times then STAHP. It doesn’t help otherwise. Especially if we are listening for footsteps or recharging etc.
Well, you should stop. Because I can tell you from experience that you are not helping. If all I can hear is your pinging then you are being a hindrance. A big part of this game is being able to hear your surroundings. If you are spam pinging then that is literally all I can hear. And no I have not tried voicing my opinion. I don't chat in game chat. Too many bad experiences with ragers, trollers, children bragging about things they did with my mother, and people that don't speak my language. I always play with the same person and we pick up randoms. Sometimes we invite them if we have a good game.
