100% agree.
I'm in favor of a hybrid system over what we have now, but I don't think it will resolve the competitive integrity issues overall. The devs are trying to find a happy medium that might not exist.
I'm grinding Ranked on the NS2 this split, just for fun. (I made Diamond on the NS1 back in 2021). So far, it's been lackluster. Having a Ranked mode without structure is counterproductive for the long term.
The devs are having trouble understanding that they have created a thriving esport.
If we observe the history of any sport then we can acknowledge the evolution of basketball, football, hockey, etc. Let's take basketball, for example. Basketball was created by a Canadian starting with a ball and a hoop in 1891. From there the sport, as with all sports, had to be developed. Along the way I'm sure players complained about the size of the hoop, the size of the ball, the height of the hoop, placing boundaries around the playing area, adding a free throw line, adding a three point line, etc. But players complaints should be scrutinized if they're not promoting structure, competitive integrity, and evolution over free-will. Imagine if sports never evolved and we were still playing and watching basketball with a 1891 format.
If the devs choose to stop developing Ranked using their own ideals, such as ALGS dropzones, then their naturally going against what it takes to develop Apex into the esport it aspires to be.
