Mixtape playlist issues: "Quit Penalty" refresh too slow, exacerbated by bots

Foreword

Greetings,

Let me start by saying that I really like the new extra modes, I think they're a fun way to practice combat in a new setting. With that being said, I have some feedback regarding certain design elements of this playlist that are creating a less positive experience. "Quit penalties" may be an unfortunate necessity, but there are aspects of the present "Quit penalty" design that excessively punish well-behaved players.

  • Bots cause "quit penalty forgiveness" not to be triggered
  • Quit penalty refresh is too slow

Bots cause "quit penalty forgiveness" not to be triggered

  • Mixtape playlist matches have a quit penalty mechanic designed to encourage players to remain in matches and play out the game.
  • If you quit a match midway through, you will be prevented from entering matchmaking until the allotted time has passed.
  • This feature contains a "forgiveness" mechanic, where you can quit without penalty if one or more of your squadmates has already left the game.
  • The addition of bots to "mixtape mode" lobbies has broken the aforementioned forgiveness mechanic.
    • You can be in a Gun Run lobby, where having a full team is essential, and be unable to quit without penalty because your team is populated by bots (rather than empty slots with no player)

Pathfinder can't quit without penalty, despite having two bots on his team.

Quit penalty refresh too slow

  • The default quit penalty is 2 minutes. This increases to 5 minutes after your first quit. This is fair enough, but I would expect that after not quitting any matches for 2 hours or more, the penalty would revert back to the original 2 minute duration. I've only ever quit out of one match, which was nearly 24 hours ago, and I haven't quit out of a single match since - yet the penalty has not refreshed. If I quit out of a match now, I will still get an extended penalty of 5 minutes, despite having not quit out of any games for nearly 24 hours.
    • How large will this penalty become over time? Will the penalty become hours in length?
    • How long do we have to go without quitting before it resets back to the initial period?

A penalty presented to the player after 20+ hours without quitting, and numerous matches completed without quitting.

Conclusion

The issues of bots preventing quit forgiveness and quit penalties not refreshing are creating an experience that is less fun than it should be. It's not fun to sit through a gun run game when you have nobody on your team and no ability to quit without having to wait 5 minutes or more. Quit penalties may be an unfortunate necessity, but with today's implementation I worry that these penalties unduly punish well-behaved players.

It's not clear how they are joining. However, myself and other players have noticed these bots. They stand still, occasionally firing or using abilities, but always finish the game with 0 damage and 0 kills. They usually have a name that is one word with several digits at the end. I don't know whether or not they are added by Respawn.

I heard those bots are account seller bots.
They sell level 20+ accounts to banned users, smurfers, and people who want sub accounts so they can join in ranked matches.

So people are actually paying money to get lvl 20 accounts so they cant smurf in Rookie and/or hack, with enough demand so that its worth for scripters to auto-level accounts ? Haha so sad.

Anyhow; if this is the main reason for these AFK bots, then I suggest that they should make XP less dependent on "time survived", which at the moment is like 50-80% of the total Xp gained, and instead make it based activity; dmg dealt, kills, teammates revived, teammates respawned etc etc. Apart from making a hard time for bots, it also make sense since being active in the game is a better measurement of experience .

This is still an active issue. Here's a screenshot from a match today with several bots on one team, effectively resulting in a 5v2 lobby that nobody can quit from:

    Bots prevent quitting

"Quit forgiveness" is not granted in bot lobbies, because bots never back out, so the current system penalizes you for leaving.  In an ideal world, there would be no penalty for quitting from a bot match.

    Penalties stack too quickly

Taking a 2 minute penalty is fine, but when that immediately increases to 5 minutes, penalties seem to add up very quickly. With bots present in many matches, there is often good reason to want to leave. It would be great if we could address this on at least one side or the other - reduction in penalties, or increase in bot control.

Need a way to end matches early

Some matches are very lopsided, and such matches are not really fun for either team. It would be great if TDM had a Forfeit concept, or a Lockout concept similar to what is used in the Control game mode.
