- @Trentanian “A lot of players” lmao just because you seem some pros making the switch doesn’t mean “a lot of players” are doing as well what kinda logic is that 😂
sorry it was just a thought, seeing as how its made people happy on halo but thanks for your reply and i guess by a lot of players i did mean some pro players but also the people i play with. i suppose i should have worded it "with players changing to controller" ill word things more carefully next time.
- @Trentanian Why are you saying sorry to him when its true? around 80% of my deaths are to controller players, recently I died to a controller and then he died to another controller, that's how bad it is.

Isn't aim assist on mouse completely useless?

@XHelperZEA wants to level the playfield for unskilled players, you can tell by this patent
https://www.pcgamer.com/ea-granted-patent-for-system-that-changes-controls-based-on-how-good-or-bad-youre-playing/
and with this direction a MnK Aimassist is very likely to happen.
Aim slowdown with MnK would not be useless but rather OP - XHelperZ3 years agoHero+
Patents don't say a lot, companies like EA and so forth release a lot of patents, though most of them don't really get used.
(Do also note that this patent was applied for in 2020, it only got approved in 2022, I'm pretty sure the aim assist debate wasn't that big around that time)
Why would this patent help with moving towards a MnK aim assist? The system mentioned in this patent recommends settings based on the data it gained of the user playing, it's just recommending settings that are adjusted better to the playstyle of the user, which realistically isn't always going to be correct sensitivity-wise.
It doesn't even seem to provide live changes to the settings, each recommendation requires approval of the user.
Aim assist with MnK is pretty much useless for close ranged battles as with a mouse you're going to overshoot the aim assist much faster than on a controller (Meaning that the slowdown has to be pretty strong, if you're just aiming slow to utilize it then it rather seems like you don't need the assist but rather using it as an extra tool) It's probably going to be a bit viable for mid-ranged battles with less movement, as for long ranged battles? Not so sure.
You'd have to make aim assist for MnK really strong otherwise it's pretty much unusable. AA was designed for joysticks as it was pretty hard to aim with them, the mouse was more precise and therefore it was easier to use.
It's an assist that joysticks need, not what a mouse needs.
We either split up the lobbies or lower the AA on controller because this shouldn't become an integral part of balancing.

@XHelperZi said "with this direction" ... not that the patent includes anything MnK related. But the Patent sets a tone that will likely come (why should they work on smth like this only to trash it into the dustbin ?) and with it the MnK Aimassist will likely also be on the table.
The Controller Patent leaves it open for EA , to activate assists only on their devices ... might be a strategic option for additional royalties.
But im with you that MnK should never be assisted, no matter what. Raw input was and is the way to go. But its not up to us but the EA Accounting ... when they say , aim assist boosts playernumbers and revenue, then aimassist it is ... - @Trentanian That's a weird way to solve the aim assist issue. The reason I play with mouse is because I want everything that happens to be my own input, not assisted. They just need to severely reduce aim assist in mixed input lobbies, something like 0.2 should be fine. They can have 0.6 aim assist in console only lobbies, I could care less about that.
The current issue with aim assist in PC lobbies is that I don't know whether I'm facing a KBM player, or a Controller player on PC with 0.4 aim assist OR a console player with 0.6 aim assist until I get one clipped up close or see their banner/see them looting standing still. Respawn says they want to have the game be transparent, but this has to be the least transparent game affecting issue that's plaguing the game right now. - @HansBurgers so my understanding of how it works on halo is there is a slight slowdown while on target and then the actual aim assist only kicks in when your mouse isnt moving but you are moving (wasd). i think they added it in halo specifically to counter the quick strafing which is usually an issue at closer ranges. so it just helps your aim get moving in the right direction faster.
- @Trentanian That's the craziest thing I've ever hear. We don't need that on mnk. They just need to add a delay to rotational aim assist or tone it down a bit. I can't believe halo did that
