Console did have keyboard support when it first released but they removed it as they knew it was unfair.
I personally think a decision like that would kill the game. The only players that benefit would be M&K players.
"every game has aim assist on console"
Wrong!
Rainbow six siege and Players Unknown Battlegrounds has no aim assist in the multiplayer in player verse player.
"Console did have keyboard support when it first released but they removed it as they knew it was unfair" I don't remember at any point Apex legends had mouse & keyboard support on consoles.
I couldn't find anything talking about Apex having mouse & keyboard support, ever. You thinking about when #Respawn talked about how they don't support the 3rd party devices like cronusmax because it allows users to use scripts?
Also, please trust me. Apex Legends will get mouse & keyboard support i'm sure of it. The rule for online F2P is you follow the biggest titles on the market no matter your personal opinion.
When your competition has mouse & keyboard support, you add it, no questions asked. Like I said before, I have no worries about people using mouse & keyboard.
At the end of the day it comes down to making Apex grow. So you shoudln't ever see aim assist ever get messed with, as it will hurt the casuals. Apex Legends is EA's cash cow, like FIFA was.
I expect Apex Legends to get mouse & keybaord support when crossplay gets added (around Nov 10 and/ or COD Block Ops release date). I also see #Respawn adding more ways to respawn.

Rainbow six siege doesn't no, but pubg does on mobile.

See attachment for M&K support via third party apps before Respawn tried their best to patch it after realising it was apart of native and players were taking advantage on PS4 by using third party apps so they weren't detected here.
This is Respawns official stance on M&K on consoles:
MOUSE & KEYBOARD USE ON CONSOLES
Our stance on this? The short answer is: we don't condone it. We are investigating ways to detect if players are doing it that we're testing internally. That's all we have to say on it for now but we'll revisit this and talk about progress with detection and how we'll address players that are using it in the near future.
And judging by Respawn banning players using M&K; I highly doubt they would decide to add support for M&K now. It would mean having to unban everyone who ever used a M&K.
Where are you getting your dates for M&K support from nothing other than guesstimating? A more accurate guesstimation date would be the 20th when the PS5 is released around the world, but, you know just as well as me all we got was "Coming in Fall".
The rule for online F2P is you follow the biggest titles on the market no matter your personal opinion
This isn't true, Apex went the complete other direction and they're doing well, they only started to copy Fortnites/Warzones after their ideas were stolen first, yet they still have unique ideas dropping every update. The first rule in business is to have a USP. Copying other F2P titles does nothing than make a clone, gives you no USP and makes you look like every other BR on the market. Above all, the game must also be fun else it will fail in all regards. Look at the battlefield that failed, it had so much promise, yet the lack updates and no USP in site destroyed it, despite being fun to play.
- E9ine_AC5 years agoHero+@MoNosDirtyGaming In theory they would not have to un ban M&K users. As when those bans took place the TOS states it is not supported nor is it allowed to be used. Now changing the TOS would change that choice none. As when the rule was in effect it was indeed legit bans with fair warnings in the TOS. With a change it will allow everyone to start from the time of launch where the TOS would be changed.
- 5 years ago@E9ine_AC You are correct here but it damages their reputation due to them adjusting their TOS, players who had purchased items via cash on them particular accounts would not be happy and Respawn would receive a bunch of complaints in regards to their accounts and they would most likely be flooded with emails.
This maybe a bad example but think of it like you not being able to play a sport outside of a house as it is the only safe place in the neighbourhood to play a sport, yet years later you have the exact same spot allocated to some kids who do now have permission to play.
On one side you'll feel happy that they're able to do this, but on the other side you'll still feel some sort of resentment.
- E9ine_AC5 years agoHero+@Popa2caps Rule 1 of gaming industry following what other companies do is a failure of a company. This means they had zero original ideas. One thing ive liked about apex. They tend to do their own thing not following another game. But to do what other companies do just shows how bad a companies staff can be by not thinking of original ideas.
People seem to think that companies have to do what other companies do or the game will die. When in reality is still supports over 1m online at all times. To follow a game means devs did things half arse. To follow a game means your design team is doing half arse work.
Apex is a game of its own that no other game out at this time can touch in terms of movement and scenery and how well it all works together. So imo to follow what COD is doing will make this company fail. Because well if we wanted a game more like COD features we would be on COD and not Apex Legends. All other games are dead to me other then the one i work on and build. No shooter can remotely touch apex legends.- Anonymous5 years ago
"Apex is a game of its own"
NO!
Apex Legends is based around 2 titles and one game mode. The game mode is called Battle Royale (BR). Respawn copied that from Brendan Greene. Brendan Greene got the idea from the movie Battle Royale 2000. Saying Apex Legends is unique while it copies BR and FPSs would be an overstatement.
"Rule 1 of gaming industry following what other companies do is a failure of a company."
First rule in any company should be to be profitable, always. Also game companies follow each other all the time. There's an 80% chance a US based video game company will make a FPS, why? Most people in the US play first person shooters. Companies copy ideas all the time. I'm not saying Respawn didn't have "original " ideas.
I will say that some companies have more freedom to chase new ideas, some just dont' have that power. Big companies mostly all follow trends, why? It pays the bills. That's why it took someone like Brendan Greene to use the idea from the movie Battle Royale and create a game around it. Then once the big comapnies started to take notice, bam, everyone starts making BRs. Big companies can't risk failure on some crazy out there idea, Too many risks involved.
Some do gain the ability to do it, but not many. That's why COD is mostly still the same game from the last one, Halo hasn't really changed over the years, Assassin's Creed, Forza, Tomb Raider, Mortal Kombat, FIFA, Madden, Gears of War. Now that I think of it, I can't remember a title changing that much ever in my gaming years.
"This means they had zero original ideas."
Not at all, I'm saying that one idea from something else led to the idea of Apex Legends, nothing more. I'm saying that something sparked the idea. Someone didn't just wake up and say "Apex Legends".
I get it, You like Apex Legends, But at the end of the day you shouldn't worry. Most game comapnies don't change too much that quickly, they make a new one around it if they need to.
It's why Apex Legends wasn't called Titanfall 3, that way people don't expect everything from Titanfall and/ or how it feels.
I will say, They might try and make people stay in game longer. That could be less loading to more spawning, you never know. You always want your community to be using your product.- 5 years ago
While I do strongly agree with you on most parts of your post to E9, I would have to strongly disagree with you on the following statement;
Saying Apex Legends is unique while it copies BR and FPSs would be an overstatement
The concept of BR is not what is unique (as you already know), the movement system however, is, that is the USP. The Trend was BR's. Warzone/Fortnite couldn't and wouldn't copy Apex's movement system, but they did steal another USP of Apex, which was their pinging system. Yes Apex is a BR, yes it is a copy of a concept but it is not a clone. You can tell this by your preference, I would rather play Apex than either of those games; because it is simply better in all aspects, along with its USP. BR and FPS fans are their target demographic.
