My take on the new RP system and S13 changes so far
TL;DR
- The entry cost is high and combined with the inflated need for RP for each rank, the ladder is probably not climbable for solo queue players. Even if you might get the same percentile placement, the nominal rank wouldn`t sound rewarding.
- The overvaluing of placement skills will probably keep skillful players at a lower rank for a longer time
- Dev`s should balance the game based on the player`s opinion instead of the stakeholders`
1. I have solo queued for masters before season 11 and it was tough enough for players to deal with all the server shutdowns -96 and unstable teammates. Seeing pro premade squads not able to make to pred after the first day. I don`t think I even stand a chance to go even close. It is way too time-consuming than it used to be. The
2. According to my experience in the past 12 seasons, It is hard to stay at any rank below diamond, it would only take a few games before I dip out lower ranks. One important factor is that even if I don`t get good placements, there will be a consistent +60RP if I got kills.
3. The headshot multiplier nerf is a pro-inclined decision. I have heard multiple times from those players about how kraber should be removed from tournaments. All they want is consistent result&prize with no lucky shots that will change the game outcome. BR being BR is its unpredictability. The reason why I enjoyed apex is I play this game like it is rogue-like. You play against a team, loot, and repeat until you win. Not the ALGS is fun to watch.
I very much doubt that the player increase in s13 was because it was easier for players to reach diamond and masters, and the dev`s effort is just the opposite direction.
