indeed. if they create something completely new and its completely busted, thats going to be the meta for the whole season, because respawn does not do hotfixes. if theres a bug, its going to be in the game for a whole season. if its underwhelming, nobody will play that character for the whole season, and the people that would have mained that character forgets about them and goes back to their previous main. this specifically is more of a problem with their update cycle, but this could be a symptom of that. compare this to warframe, another game with long update cycles, and they usually push out 3-4 hotfixes in the first month, with some tasty red flavor text in the all-chat. in warframe problems get noticed, then fixxed. in apex, its often unclear if respawn even notices the problem.
Maybe that's the point, or maybe they just don't set themselves the task of "creating memorable, concise characters with unique mechanics" rather than controversial remixes.
Maybe the creators of the characters do not have a leader who would demand a result from them with a specific goal:
1. A memorable character can become part of people's popular culture.
2. People spend more time in the game because of the non-linearity of the game.
Or if they have a horizontal structure in the team, then they themselves do not realize the importance of this.
That's why I wrote this post and I want to tell them about it.
