Gotta say no. That would just be a way for people to actively back-pat stupidity and passively crap all over players who are too smart to get embroiled in the garbage that bad players believe is "the game."
@reconzeroDoesn't effect the games that do have such a system.
So while I'm sure back patting stupidity would be a thing, the fear of it affecting your game play seems null to me.
Especially in a random setting, where yes, it could still happen, but less than what it would with a pre made squad.
As for your issue being judged for not joining in hot drop suicide..they likely already are.
Kudos would still be nice to let people know they did a good job even if you can't see them.
I'd much rather see something like smite's match synergy where it shows a percentage form of how recently someone has left a match. You work to 100% and if you leave a match it drops to 0% and you have to play so many matches to get it back up.
Though with how often people leave in apex I don't know what good it will do.

I would just prefer that people mic up and when somebody else does something worthwhile (infrequent in my experience) then call it out verbally.
"I'd much rather see something like smite's match synergy...."
This is a different can of worms entirely. I'm that guy who would respond to that kind of manipution with furious spite by making it a point of protest to quit every single match, even the sure wins. Which I have done before for various other reasons. Public shaming as a form of behavior modification is just plain bad psychology, even if it doesn't often produce extreme reactions like mine. Carrots, yes. Sticks, no.- 3 years ago
@reconzero
Never saw it as shaming. Just used it as a potential warning. "Hey this guy left a match recently" so if he leaves the current match, chances were unlikely it was a DC issue. In which case if he left again I do what is done to every person who leaves a match early, good synergy or not, and report them.
Not sure what games you'd been playing for such a thing to turn out so badly, but in my experiences I've never heard anyone called out for having a low synergy. However I can understand your reasoning. I myself just don't see the issue in shaming someone who rightfully deserves it. (I.e Cheaters)
But perhaps you're correct in that thinking.

Kudos would imply people are thankful. Unfortunately by very nature on internet people are selfish. Every round it is another 1v3 pro wannabe. Hardly ever get someone that says "stay together" or "push together" in positive manner.
Here is a better idea. Automatically receiving points for positive team actions.
- You get points for performing revive,
- You get points for grabbing banner
- You get points for respawning,
But to avoid abuse you can only get them if people not in premade squad otherwise a friend can farm points.
The points can be redeemed for Apex packs and/or Battlepass experience.
People won't do something positive without reward. What if also add in additional reward to above.
Look at Overwatch endorsement system. "Helps you get into better groups" Now imagine if in Apex that meant you were matched with like minded players. You get to not have to play alongside selfish 1v3 wannabe pros, they get grouped amongst themselves.
All players begin at endorsement level 1 and can progress to a max level of 5; every endorsement you receive impacts your endorsement levels. Higher endorsement levels can help you get better groups in the Looking for Group tool. The endorsement level can decay.
An example of rewards being given out
Maintaining your Endorsement Level
The trick of maintaining your endorsement level is playing Overwatch frequently and most importantly not leaving matches prematurely. The best way to encourage team play is to think of the worst things a human being can do and design game mechanics to counter it.
Here is a quote from Overwatch forum the effect it can have.
