Old Ranked system.
I think the old system needs to be restored! This new system made many weak players - Diamonds and even Predators. I saw a lot of players from the first ranked series which hardly reached platinum 4 ...
It’s a stretch to shift the blame fully on the ranking system. IMO the problem stems from the disconnect glitches. It doesn’t matter how terrible a player is when loss penalties no longer impact their rank. The overwhelming influx of these scumbags are only there for one reason, cheating.
The ability to leave the game and not get any points taken off is one of the biggest issues in ranked at the moment, and it's meaning the road to Predator is more just based on time played than actual effort and skill.
There are less skilled players out there that are using strategy to stay alive and get into the top 5, but that isn't an issue, it's part of the game. It's the same with characters, I get more kills with characters like Pathfinder and Bloodhound, but I win more games with Crypto. I think it's great that there are ways for people that are less skilled using strategy (brain over brawn) to gain an advantage on players that are more skilled, it's what Apex is all about.
@MonacoianI don't think anything has particularly changed to be honest apart from people being wise to the exploit.
The change in numbers was more so that it was easier to refine scores for different achievements without having to use decimals which I agree with.
I think damage should come into play as a score modifier to balance things out.
0 - 500 damage - 0x - 1x score modifier.
500 - 1200 damage - 1 x - 1.5x score modifier
1200 - 2000+ 1.5x - 2x score modifier.
This would mean that you would have to earn your points properly even if you came in the top 5 teams, but also reward players that have played extremely well throughout the game.
Points would max out at 350 so that things didn't get out of hand but it encourages more teams to get in there and fight people to earn points rather than hide.
