P2020, Scout, and Optics
Hello all. After playing for awhile, I feel comfortable enough to give Feedback regarding Apex. I am going to focus on the P2020 and Scout as they have the lowest use (statistically). Then talk about Optics. This is a problem with most BR games I have noticed. There is only a handful of weapons that matter. It doesn't feel like there isn't an effort to make the weapons capable of handling the meta. Here is my feedback on how to bring these 2 guns back. Starting with the P2020:
Every gun has damage drop off. The P2020 can do 12 damage to the body, and 18 to the head at max. It has a 10 round magazine base. With those numbers in mind, I think a way to fix this is by giving it a Special Mod slot.. a Shield Piercer. It does full damage to player's health (ignores shields). You may think it is OP but, the range is short, and it only has a 430 rate of fire. At that range, a Peacekeeper has a good chance to rip people a new one. In short, this would make the gun a high skill cap, with potential to kill even in late game
As for the Scout.. This is a great weapon. I do like it a lot but, I have noticed it has issues keeping up. At max it only does 30 damage to the body, and 60 to the head. I have yet to find someone that knows the rate of fire on this weapon. I am aware that it is fast though. The Scout's main issue is that the Bullet Drop is noticeable at a distance when being compared to the Longbow. At Mid Range, it doesn't have the damage of a Wingman. I have four possible fixes for this:
1. Create a Special Mod slot: High Velocity Bullets. This would result in the bullet drop being less severe. It still won't be to a Longbow level but, it would be enough to match a Longbow at a certain distance. Let us say in this example 100 meters. It would have the same bullet drop as the Longbow. 200 meters out, it would have more bullet drop than the Longbow but, it won't be as bad as it is now
2. Muzzle Flash does give your position away. Perhaps the Scout could be turned in to an Ambush weapon by having a mod that completely eliminates Muzzle Flash. This could be done by mod or as a natural part of the weapon. If it is done as a mod, I think it could be put in with the Special Mod above
3. Skip the Muzzle Flash idea, and add in increased damage to players with no shields, with the High Velocity Bullet Mod. I am thinking 50%. This would put it to Wingman levels on the body shots, and only slightly below it in headshots if it has Skull Piercer (45 damage body, 90 head shot)
4. Skip all of the above, and just give it less Bullet Drop
Last thing on my list is the Optics. I hate how you are expected to go in to a match where there is no match making balance what so ever. I am tired of being thrown in against pre made teams with 1K+ kills. I would be less tired if I had the setup that best fits my weapon and play style. The fix I have in mind will also help with RNG on loot (indirectly)
Make it so you get to pick a 1 white, and 1 Blue or 1 Purple sight (have to make a choice)(2 sights total). These go with you on round start. Then remove Blue and Purple sights from the loot system. This would force players to find Gold sights, and leave room in the spawning for other blues or purples. With White's still being in, it would keep things random
That is the most I have. I hope I gave reasonable feedback, and possible fixes to what I have talked about
