Players are aware of the guidelines from the moment they play the game and create their account.
Do note that typically some smaller punishments are given before permabanning an account if the previous offences weren't as severe.
If players get tilted and cannot hold their emotions, then they should unbind all forms of communication.
That way they won't be able to trash talk, if they try to rebind those buttons so they can trash talk then we know even better that it's already bad.
This could also result players that have been perma-muted to move over to throwing games, which would be worse.
Hopefully your friend has learnt from this, that way they can act properly in other games/platforms.
Next to that, I understand that it isn't fun to be banned, but rules need to be enforced.

The difference here is that driving laws are typically set up and enforced by the government.
This is a private company with it's own set of guidelines, they can enforce them as they see fit.
And this isn't something that EA does, pretty much any game company does it like this.
Doing something wrong in a game doesn't put a life at risk, nor does it warrant anyone talking bad about them.
Next to that, what makes you say that the bad driver doesn't get punished?
I don't think this analogy really conveyed what you wanted to say.
Even if someone is trash talking you, doesn't mean you can do it back.
And as I mentioned previously, permanent bans aren't usually given as a first punishment, especially if it isn't that severe.
If a player's conduct is reported for it not being appropriate then it will be actioned according to guidelines and the insight of the EA employee overseeing the case.
This system works well, it shows that players should behave.
If players don't choose to behave, they will be punished, as it's expected that users are aware of all the guidelines.
- Palette24carats4 years agoSeasoned Ace@XHelperZ Exactly and we know that private companies tend to overuse their powers.
But not as much as this: which store don't let customers in that said bad words one time at another customer?
Which grocery store dont let you in because you said bad words to another customer a year ago??
That's exactly what we are suggesting: if you don't obey the guidelines then you lose the vocal/text options of the game. Sounds like a logical punishment so you behave.
Banning accounts that you put real money $$$$ into is total anti-customer... it's like banning customers to the grocery store or to walmart because 5 years ago that customer said bad words to another customer that walked on his foot.
Private companies want money $$$ and customers they should never ban any customer for words if they have the power to mute them.
Anyway if you ban them it wont teach them to behave... on the contrary the guy will lose his real account and wont care to have his smurf account ban and then will spew any word he wants to on that fake account.
Yes you can create 100 accounts if you want, you really tought they could teach you to behave???- XHelperZ4 years agoHero+
It's not the task of a company to make you behave, you just have to follow the guidelines you agreed to following.
The one to teach manners to a person is typically their parents, not a company.
Even if it isn't logical to you, the action has been determined by an EA agent who found it logical to give that exact punishment.
I understand the position you're taking here, and what you're suggesting would probably function fine in a certain way.
Though the main position of this system is to punish players, not to teach them to get onto the right path.
Same goes with government instances, you get locked up when you do something wrong, other instances help you with getting back onto the right path.
So as I said before, people have accepted these guidelines.
It's their choice to violate them, therefore account punishment is in the right.
Also do note that punishments are something related directly to EA, not to the development of Apex Legends.
Not sure where this kind of feedback should go though, as it's a part of their main guidelines.

You're full of it, mate. A lifeban for writing "idiot" in the chat is just plain ridiculous. Especially when there's only 4 squads left, I'm kill leader with 2k damage and our valk just decides to troll us by flying out of the ring. All of us dies in 5 seconds. But by all means, ban the one that "abused" the chat.
"This system works well, it shows that players should behave" - lol
- BigMacAttack8u4 years agoSeasoned Ace@malnaizu Playing these games are for fun, if you don’t have fun, don’t play. You can solo que if you don’t want to play with others, or know you won’t react well. If you call someone an idiot because of one decision in a game, then you have a short fuse, and should solo que. This would prevent yourself from making someone sad, and to prevent you from getting banned. Happy gaming!

@XHelperZnah this is not how it works, banning account for what people say is like permanently removing someone's right/privilege to drive because he said f* you to some bad driver... the bad driver keeps the licence to kill and the good driver with a bad mouth cannot drive anymore. That's stupid.Kinda bad comparison tbh. Permabanning from Apex is like permabanning someone from a social gathering, meeting, study group, sports activity etc etc who is screaming racial slurs and obscenities =) I personally think the tolerance level is a bit silly. You can actually be permabanned for saying "idiot". But whatever. If thats is the rules that Respawn think will make this game better, then just play by it. If you cant control your emotions, then just play with muted teammates.
- 4 years ago@Balladalidila Yeah that works only if the thing that pissed you off would be only voice/chat, but what about in-game actions? Like deliberately sabotaging a game, trolling, etc...
- Balladalidila4 years agoSeasoned Ace
In my experience, 99/100 things that pisses me off about random teammates are things they do in-game. I couldn't care less if a random guy says mean things to me, especially since I usually have 2-3x his dmg dealt anyways hehe =)
But unless the mute squad function and/or the communication filter option doesnt works both ways, i.e that also your messages are muted for your teammates, then just unbind the "team message (in match)" key in settings.
