Pinging Items

My idea is to have more information on items that are pinged by your teammates, whether in loot boxes, crates, the ground, etc.

Example: (as it works now)

Player A sees a hop-up on the ground/loot box, etc and pings it

Player B looks in that direction to get a little more information on it (what kind of hop-up, what level attachment, etc)

That is a good system, but I think a small enhancement would make it better. I have put in many, many hours into this fantastic game and I still don't know all the attachments for all the guns. I am sure I am not the only one who isn't an attachment aficionado.

Example: (My Idea)

Player A sees a hop-up on the ground/loot box, etc and pings it

Player B looks at the ping and now it will have a gun symbol if your gun can use said item (Just like when you are looting items yourself). I think this would help players (such as myself) learn the attachments better.

Numerous times I have called dibs on something that I thought I could use, only to realize that once I get to said item it actually does not work for my gun.

I hope this made sense as I have a hard time explaining the ideas i have in my head.

  • @beakwyatt First... you did a good job explaining what’s in your head, so kudos. You’re not the only one who has that problem

Next, your actual post. I don’t know what you call ‘many, many hours’ but either your brain just doesn’t want to memorise or it might not be that many xD.

    Skullpiercer: wingman and longbow DMR
Selectfire Receiver: Prowler SMG and HAVOC Rifle
    Precision Choke: peacekeeper, triple take
    Turbocharger: HAVOC rifle and Devotion

Learn them, I’ll quiz ya tomorrow student 😈:P

You don’t have to look in the direction at all. When someone pings an item, in the right corner (killfeed section) it shows the item. So a character might say ‘close range optics’ but if you look in the killfeed section, you’ll see the actual item name. This is basically what you’re saying but you want an image of sorts which’ll be way too intrusive/obtrusive for some ppl.

A final note, if you wanna learn all the stuff, you could always choose Bangalore. Since she’s a ‘professional soldier’ almost everything she pings she says additional stuff about. Like when she pings the Skullpiercer she says ‘Skullpiercer here, for a wingman or Longbow DMR’ or ‘Skullpiercer here, increases headshot damage’.

    Hope this helped 😉

Agree with OP, knowing which attachments & mods are relevant for which guns was a significant part of the learning curve.

As respawn are adding more, the problem is only going to get worse.

The game could do much more to alleviate this.

    Also, "I need a hop-up".

Most useless ping request; having to look up to the kill feed is unnecessarily clunky.

    2nd most useless; "I need shields/health".

We need differentiation between cells/batteries and syringes/medkits.
