Players, don't spend $$ on APEX until they actually address problems
I love the overall design of this game. It's really a fresh take on BR, and I admit, I've spent about $100 on apex packs, because I figured they would be a long term contender in the BR space.
However, here we are a month later, and virtually NOTHING has changed. No patches to fix even the most stupid of bugs and oversights, and no roadmap has been released for the more important fixes. I want to believe EA/Respawn is going to actually address problems, instead of just stoking the monetization fire... but I want to see proof.
Please make EA/Respawn demonstrate they are committed to fixing issues before giving them your money.
I'm a very experienced software engineer, and here is a long list of the things that are still broken that are TRIVIAL to fix:
1. you still can't invite a player to a lobby by name in the game UI -- so my friend list is chock full of people i had to add just to get them into a single discord pick up game (this could be added in a few hours... seriously. if your coders won't do it, contact me and Ill come by and do it for you.)
2. you still can't see a list of recent players you've played with
3. wingman is still OP, wingman peacekeeper meta is boring. wingman is perfect weapon for aimbotters
4. ending the game still has this idiotically slow UI which encourages you to ESC out and miss the team score
5. BUG - picking up a weapon from the ground while your weapon is holstered still swaps it with #1, even if #2 is active on your weapon card
6. transition from lobby to legend-select has some kind of weird lag-bug, where sometimes players stay behind in lobby for 3-10 seconds, and nobody knows if everyone is going to make it into the lobby
7. if jumpmaster doesn't click-select his legend (lets it auto select) then it gives up his jumpmaster
8. no way to adjust capture-gain of in-game-voice
PLUS the exploits....
1. semi-invulnerable spamming interact while ziplining
2. wraith ult perma reset (timing bug where climbing something while triggering tactical will reset ult cooldown)
3. legendary weapon ammo reset (swap weapons between slots while reloading)
4. config hack to disable smoke effects (And see through smoke)
5. ... who knows what else
Not to mention the more important stuff to fix that takes more effort...
1. random-queue is essentially broken, because in 30% of games someone leaves before the drop (probably because they wanted to play wraith too)
2. legend hitboxes and pick priorities are still hugely imbalanced, 60% of teammates want to play wraith
3. some players still crash alot / complain of crashes (though I admit it doesn't crash for me, 1080 Ti)
4. player-to-player (best and worst case) lag is THREE-TIMES higher than Fortnite / PUBG , and really advantages lag-switchers and out-of-region players
5. There is no way to report cheaters in game.. no way to see your death cam, no way to see replays
6. there are increasing numbers of cheaters in games
7. there is no match history.. anywhere
8. once we reach lvl 100, there are too few stats / graphs of our progress in the game.. this could be served by third parties like apex.tracker.gg, but they need better APIs
9. downstream bandwidth consumption of APEX is EIGHT-TIMES higher than Fortnite / PUBG
10. in-game voice sounds horrible
It's been four weeks since launch today.... and the patch notes and patches are not inspiring confidence that anything is going to happen with this game.
