I'm a PS player & I experience the same crap... getting shot & killed fast (knocked in 1-2 shots)... dumping entire clip on a player & he's still standing... getting shot through walls or around corners... I think it's more the game itself, rather than it being a PS or Xbox player advantage/disadvantage. The hit box for some characters seems bigger than necessary, like Loba. I guess her rear end is a liability, lol.
I am very interested in getting the Switch, now that Nintendo is being added to the cross-play. My biggest concern; how many FPS it will be?... but I also expect to experience the same crap mentioned above.
One of the differences I've noticed between PS and Xbox players, is that a majority of PS players seem a bit more aggressive. My 2 sons got me into Apex (19yrs & 16yrs) back in Season 2. When 1st playing, I felt they were both much more aggressive than I was, but being aggressive is kind of key to this game.
I saw a comment where someone said that they believed there were more young players (or "kids" as they said) on PS, I might be inclined to agree with that (only because I think a lot of the adults online act like children), but younger players, and being young in general, they're just fearless. My goal was to play smart which meant playing conservative, but my boys were mad men, going after every team as if it was the last team to beat. I've come to find out, that's the best way to play this game. You can take advantage of the bigger hit boxes on some characters, but also learn the damage radius of your weapons. The magic shots that seems to turn corners or go through walls, might just be the damage radius of certain ammo fired from certain weapons.
A bit wordy, but that's my take.
