Potential Rampart Buffs (Suggestions)

Just a list of potential rampart buffs that have crossed my mind or been discussed around. This is not a suggestion that he receives ALL these buffs but that some of them COULD be good for his build and wanted to list them where dev team could potentially

  1. rampart's passive affects all machine gun type weaponry to some extent, with LMG's receiving the most benefit
  2. ramparts wall is built in two parts. when activated the first part of her wall begins setting up, and once finished is a solid destructible object (not one shot until its fully finished). Then the second part attempts to finish setting up for the full effect. Basically the wall can only be one shot during its setup part, and the shield can be one shot during its setup part. This would mean rampart can still place cover, even if not amped cover, in combat situations. That is unless the enemy shoots the first part of the wall while its setting up to prevent that. Having a tactical completely rendered inert unless you "catch the enemy off guard" or "get there ahead of time" regardless of original design intent, massively hurts the character.
  3. 360 turret swivel emplacement. if that's too strong, when aiming down sights lock direction until zoom out with similar swivel lock to how it currently functions.
  4. this is more of a QoL / fun, but the paintball mod is in the game files, why isn't she using it? It's literally got her logo on it and suites her character. It's not like the spitfire has any other alt fire mod at present anyway and its literally already attached to weapons via her passive anyway.
  5. additional passive effect that adds benefits to other players gear abilities, "modding" it so to speak. Octane's jump pad or wattson's fences for example.
  6. this ones a bit crazy, but perhaps the ability to mod doors into makeshift walls? sawing off the top and attaching amped cover? would become destructible like her walls.
  7. ability to place the amped shield onto surfaces apart from the wall, like desks or hand railings.
  8. ability to raise height of turret above ground to some extent. while risky as it puts you in the open, it can also give a height advantage to see or shoot enemies.
  • The modifying idea's could even tie into requiring crafting materials to perform the actions.

That's all I can come up with from discussions, hear say, forums, and simply pondering on what would generally fit her playstyle and abilities.

Hope something from here catches a dev's eye or sounds great in concept.

  • @Monhulio  Always happy to see people putting out buff ideas. I'll answer your points in the same numbered order to keep it easy.

    1. What would determine if it were a machine gun type or not? Like what's your description and/or example?
    2. So basically they shouldn't be one-shotted before they're fully up? As it's the same case with Caustics barrels I'd say it would have to be one way or the other. You'd be separating the walls into two lots of construction so would you have to double back to the wall to finish it off?
    3. I don't see why not. It would let you chase people a bit easier when they're pushing. If it is too much then maybe a complete 180 degrees.
    4. It was only for promotion I think? I don't see why it couldn't be in the game tho.
    5. Give an example?
    6. I'd have it more like the barricading in Rainbow six siege.
    7. I don't see why you couldn't place it in more places. Putting it on a desk or something would make it more of a makeshift wall.
    8. As in you'd be placing it on a platform of some kind?

I think it's a bit of a dodgy one as they don't use anyone's ideas as it can be an issue further down the line. Idk if it's to do with copyright or what.

    1. It could be categorized by the weapons description, as machine pistol RE-45 would then be included, or just the normal categories of LMG & SMG that already exist.
    2. Basically the first construction lot is the wall itself, which sets up like normal. Once its in place, its no longer able to be one shot. Then the second part activates as normal but is in of itself a separate part in the skill, so it can still be shot while its setting up, this could include if an enemy hit the base wall if hitting the small bars would make it too difficult to prevent amped shots. So both parts of the wall setup as per they currently do, only when each individual part is fully formed, that part can no longer be one shot. This would in fact still give enemies time to one shot the base wall while its setting up, but a much smaller window, and make it better for rampart to defend herself by setting up at LEAST basic cover if not amped.
    3. Indeed. And as I said they could just as easily make it so the 360 swivel only works when the gun isn't wound up or something for balance. Leaving a window of vulnerable opportunity still for surprise attacks.
    4. Sure it was for promotion, but it does fit the character's personality and honestly adds nice flavour to her setup.
    5. Giving octane's jump pad extra distance and height; wattsons fence more durability, damage, or even making it transluscent, so you can only see it by paying attention to it or walking through it; pathfinders zip line with faster traversal; caustic barrels with longer yield or larger spread. If having it occur by her just being on the team was too powerful, then perhaps she would need to interact with the placed object first.
    6. Ah but that might detract from another characters future design. Potentially anyway.
    7. Pretty much.
    8. As in the turret itself is kinda on a swivel platform, as mentioned above, and it can raise / lower its height a wee bit off the ground.

    - If I recall correctly the idea of the crafting character got rolled into the replicators. So not too farfetched, and even then who says two legends can't share a perks basic concept? And there's no issues with a character that could craft in any kind of copyright, that would be a weird problem.
  • buff 1. her turret fires on its own for 30 seconds or so with auto aim like torbs turret in overwatch.

buff 2. her shield actually goes up every time and isn't destroyed when setting it up.

buff 3. she uses her turret but can turn in a full circle, or a larger circle by 45 degrees or so.

  • @MonhulioI have a question about the shield Idea? Are you meaning something like she puts down a shield to cover her mates than she can upgrade them to amped shields? I think that would be a cool feature but would obviously need a cool down till she can upgrade to amped shields. That would be awesome and if the amped shield broke and if the barrier was still there u should be able to repair them.

  • @Monhulio Sorry I didn't really read your whole post, but I think she just needs a rework I can't see her really doing much with what she is given.

@Im_TOX_Corrin3 More of the idea she can place her amped shield alone on flat elevated surfaces such as desks or window sills.
  • I think think she honestly needs much I think a simple fix would be to have the cover have a load time 0% -> 100% 0hp-->600hp. (400 for the base and 200 for the amped.) Over the 3 or previous 4 seconds it takes to complete. If the shield gets hit it stalls..

    So shield is placed for:

1 second and shot it has 200 hp no amp

    1.5 second and short

    300 hp no amp

2 second  and shot 400 hp no amp

3 second 400 hp base, 200hp amp (complete)

@6v7vtjxnhoy6 The Volt, R-99, and prowler are some of the strongest weapons in the game limited ONLY by ammo count. So.... No.

This doesn't fix the issue of her abilities being difficult to use in combat while making her needlessly powerful in gunfights.

  • @Monhulio Oh, I gotcha that would be cool. I also wished they take out when ur amped cover blows up u take damage. I think that's a dumb feature might even be a bug who knows.
