- E9ine_AC4 years agoHero+@Palette24carats There is no way of preventing this from happening. I can use myself as 1 exampe. I made pred season 3 I hardly ever touched ranked anymore. If i go into a ranked lobby they will be placing a former pred in bronze lobbies. Then you run into the issue of preds on smurfs constantly hitting ranked lobbies. So even if you do get a way to demote them from being placed in say gold/plat on a split you still have the same issue just smurfing form or people who dont do ranked much anymore.
- Palette24carats4 years agoSeasoned Ace@E9ine_AC exactly it doesnt make any sense to demote them to bronze ... there is already enough smurfs in bronze, silver, gold, platinum that you don't want to add Main accounts that are 1% of the best players in bronze rank all the way up
- @Palette24carats If the issue is running into old Preds in ranked, wait a week or two to grind ranked, most of them will have moved on to higher tiers. And if they didn't, it could very well be possible that the current tier is where they belong. Plat and gold for the first 2 weeks of ranked is always a busy time for diamond masters and Preds to climb up the tiers.

I think people should pay less attention to badges. A Diamond player now would probably had made Predator S2 and a "hardstuck D3" in S7, like myself, could most likely reach master if he tried hard, played with equally good premades and grinded. Also, many current masters, who dont have the time or will to grind to Predator, play their main accounts to Master 10.000 RP each split and then "smurfs in Diamond" the rest, often boosting premades to Master.
- @E9ine_AC They need to get rid of the mid season split demotion and not ever demote predators below plat

The partial reset at the beginning of a split/season is completely pointless IMO. Seasons are back to back, so no loss of skills happens overnight from a season/split to the next --assuming consistency.
Practically speaking, everyone in plat II is a pred at the beginning of a new split/season. So what changes? Nothing for the top players. Who has it harder? The lower tiers. Why? Because the demotion is fixed amount for any given Tier, but it is capped downward. So no one can go any lower than Bronze IV. Quite a few strong players from plat III and below will be all compacted between Bronze and Silver at the beginning of a new split/season, penalizing weaker players the most, IMO.
Then if that wasn't enough, anyone level 10 can start playing ranked, smurfs and very inexperienced players alike.
