To be honest, I dind't know you can punch mates or be punched, until one of my random teammate punched my holo - I was Mirage and my hologram was blocking Wattson's energy wall. Few games after, one of my random teammate needed to go afk for a while. Thanks to Wraith's portal we've been able to punch him to safe zone.
It felt good that mates and me are able to punch each other in those situation.
I understand the frustration when it is used in the way you guys described.
As for friendly fire, it could be great to have such option for high skilled hardcore players in 3 men team, but for solo queue it is pointless.
