Punish Rage Quitters and Encourage Waiting for Respawn

Lately, the quality of team play has taken a nosedive. It feels like it corresponds with Armed and Dangerous (though it's probably knock-on effect from Solo Mode), where the matches got really fast. But it's hurting the quality of the game. Now, every third person or so rage quits instead of waiting for a revive. It really hurts the fun and destroys a major gameplay element. It's doubly infuriating when you've you gone out of your way to go and collect them, only for them to drop right as you've irrevocably committed to getting them. That's happened frequently enough.

Rage quitting needs to be punished. I can think of a few methods, any one or combination of which could be effective.

  1. Force rage quitters to wait a certain period of time before assigning them to a new match.
  2. Have a rage quit stat for people who quit before their timer expires.
  3. Eliminate all positive stats from the player's profile if they quit before their timer expires.
  4. Have positive revive stats for people who stay.
  5. Have team player badges for people who stay.

  • @Schwin941 I'm all for punishing rage quitters - if I could be a tyrant I'd straight up perma ban anyone who quits before their banner has expired!

I think a good system might be to force people who quit to play in the same lobbies - make a lower priority, low quality queue for all the wraith mains who say they're going for the 20 bomb then d/c the instant they get downed...

I'd like them to do something though, because it's making the game worse and I think it's just going to get worse as time goes on. If you want to insta leave the second you get downed head to duos and don't fill teammates, don't ruin my game, please.
  • @pastaclown So basically you hate new people and need to go play ranked.

Getting teammates who are bad at the game or new to the game is part of playing a TEAM game. They're a trillion times better than some 40k kill wraith sweat who instantly leaves the second they're downed, in my opinion.

Now I'm not saying you're wrong or anything, for sure it's annoying when teammates play poorly, but that's what Ranked is meant for - to give you skill based match making where you're with people of a certain quality.

Public lobbies are for playing the game and having fun, even if you're new or suck at the game.

As for "I had someone who was gonna carry me to victory, but they left, and now I'm mad" LOL. I think it might be more the "now I'm down a teammate while other people aren't". Not that you won't be carried to victory. I hate it just as much when my 40k kill wraith insta quits as I do when my level 2 bangalore who seems like they've never played a video game before insta quits.

Bottom line though, it's a team game, you stick with your team, whatever you happen to get. If you're an absolute god at the game go play ranked and get yourself to Predator, because people who insta quit always sound like you to me, whining about how amazing they are and how bad everyone else is like anybody cares.
  • @Schwin941 Some people (like 85% of playerbase) are just too **** to play in a team, that's why "fill squad" option should be turned off by default.

just give us solo mode again : ) best solution

  • @Schwin941 I wouldn't want to be rewarded for playing the game as intended (be it succeeding or dying without hope). But since I queued to play, I wanna play, not to be forced in scenarios of facing multiple fully geared trios by myself, as randoms charge at jump time, die and disconnect. Or go 2km away from the team and spam pings until their revive expires, then disconnect.

I wholeheartedly endorse the ideas of heavily punishing leavers (not because of some EA crappy server issue) that ruin the game for other players.
Maybe even more drastic methods or punishments than the ones you suggested.
  • Don't like things like this, I've had "punishments" on other games when my internet drops out, which isn't fair.
