I'd suggest to not forget to look inwards. People can quit if they don't like playing with you. For whatever reasons they may have. Personally I find it hard to bear people that play the game as just a gambling-infused deathmatch and instantly run towards any shots they hear or just rush center for no good reason. These times I may quit without even getting downed and I don't think there needs to be any drama about it. Their mindless recklessness hurts their chances way more than loosing a player, they are clearly not playing to win anyway and who am I to tell them how to play. Also, if one guy goes solo from the start I consider it completely appropriate for both other players to call him a c*** and requeue right away.
As for respawns, it's always weird when people thank me after I respawn them. It's the other way around! When a random player opts to wait for you to get their banner and respawn him and then go through re-gearing in the middle of a game when half the map is all looted he is doing you a solid. For him to do that he generally needs to like you at least a little. You can't make everyone like you, but there are some things that are relatively universal and will help getting others to want to stick around:
- Don't ever go solo. Remember that every ping can be a vote. If 2 people agree don't go against it. Don't go somewhere just because you think it's an obvious rotation path without making sure your teammates follow. Even if you're the most experienced player on the squad it does not mean you have command over them. Remember that your in-game level and even number of kills do not mean you're good. After you save the noobs' as* by wrecking some enemies then they are usually happy to follow your lead.
- Always try to ping enemies you're shooting at. Put Ping Enemy on a separate button if you're on PC so that you can fire and ping at the same time (I have it on F).
- Try to help your teammates if they are in trouble. Especially if they are knocked and in danger of being finished. Don't be that guy that hides and heals as his teammates get executed in the open. Obviously this does not apply when a guy went ahead completely solo ignoring his team.
- Ping any weapon that's not trash-tier. You may not care about Flatline, others really dig it and they'll appreciate the ping. Same for just about any gear above white-level.
- Always ping energy ammo until you know for sure nobody on your squad does or wants to use an energy gun.
- Don't take a pinged item that somebody already got dibs on unless you want to bring it to them (as someone who's not a native english speaker I legit did not know dibs meant a claim and was surprised when people got annoyed with me picking dibsed stuff).
- Don't forget to ping the stuff you drop (especially after the initial looting faze).
- Don't forget to lend your drone to your teammates if you're Lifeline (this one seems to be harder than it sounds lol).
- Generally learn to use the ping system to full extent. It's a great way to connect with your squad mates. Use non-standard pings like Going There or Watching There, Someone's Been There and interact with others' pings when appropriate (remember that apart from agreeing to another ping you can hold down your ping button over it to say "No" or "I can't"). People that use the system well are way more fun to play with than the ones that stay silent.
TLDR: Quitting is not necessarily bad, sometimes people just don't fit together, other times they may not like you enough to wait for a respawn. Be humble, be nice, use the ping system well and more people will want to stick around with you.
