Stop leaving prematurely, the wait time is 2mix MAX before being allowed to leave with no penalty, even if they recover your banner. but that just means you have to wait 2 min again, so 4 min if they manage to get you the last second.
so, the question remains, would you rather wait 5+ min that can turn into a day quickly or just wait >4 min even if it kills you to watch your teammates be slaughtered/camping. It's not 2 min max. It depends on the ring situation. Sometimes there are no spawn points. Sometimes your teammate can't get there. Sometimes they could (but don't or can't) recover your banner, or are clearly running away from the situation that caused you to go down. So there are a lot of situations where the game is holding you there, making you wait for no reason. Games should end when the outcome is clear.
I understand they don't want people to ragequit and ruin the experience for the rest of the team, but their solution does not handle that elegantly. If I forget I'm playing ranked and just ESC -> Leave then I get punished. It also increases each time (it seems... doubles?). It doesn't scale for the number of games I play in between. If I'm a low volume player who quits all the time I end up getting punished less severely than someone who plays all the time, and occasionally quits by accident. The incentives aren't as good as they could be for the behavior the dev's want to promote.
It should probably just be team-based reporting. If someone quits then your teammates should be able to report that it was a premature quit or not. The dev's can use some statistics to figure out who is ragequitting, and who is over-reporting.
- @TheZintis The only problem w/team-based reporting is that people suck. If you don't think two * could sit there and report people who did nothing wrong on a consistent basis (and it would be maaaany more than 2) then you've not met enough people yet. The current method is the most 'fair'. Plus, every scenario you used to say "it's not 2 min max" actually *would* be 2 minute max. If they could but don't recover your banner, as soon as it times out (2 minutes) you can quit w/out penalty. Hmmmm, re-reading what you wrote, it is actually clear you gave one example, just re-worded a few times, and in that one example where they do not get your banner, in 2 minutes when you time out, you are free to leave.
They won’t address anything unless you are an influential streamer or play in leagues. EA doesn’t care about the consumer cause they know we’ll never leave. I wish they would make it to where you have to actually quit to get abandonment penalties. If their server boots me or my internet goes down I get penalties. I’ve never quit a ranked match early since I’ve been playing yet I’ve had many penalties.
