Re: Aim assist is ruining the game

@Papacastoro
Trying not be be biased here..but as a console player having AA really hasn't made the apex gaming experience any better.
Still getting two shot by people I dump entire mags into.
Imo the unenjoyablity of the game has to do with apex's other prevalent issues such as its horrible match making, it's smurfs, and rampant cheating.

Thank you. AA might make an Apex god even more godly, but an average schlub stays an average schlub with anything less than an aimbot. Which aa most certainly is not.

My console brother may get more kills than I do, but cityfolk still whoop us in close range.

Though lately I've been getting more kills so it throws that off, we're about the same now.

Though all time I still have a ton more than he does because he doesn't play that often.

Does anyone else have Centurylink as their ISP? Anytime it rains around here we lose our connection for several hours to entire days. Dropping during a match is no fun.

Our KDRs: His 0.3, mine 0.24. I've got about twice as many matches as he does. I can't shoot worth beans ok.

As for reasons I'd quit, even though I haven't yet:

    • Hackers and cheaters
    • Lousy Connection response from Centurylink - got no other possible ISPs around here so kinda stuck with that
    • Here's one that got me off of Crypto: Can no longer revive teammates in Drone View
    • Quitters: They leave when downed, deathboxed, craftable, or respawnable, even though you can respawn them and such
      • Honestly there should be a penalty for leaving when your team hasn't been fully eliminated yet, unless respawn timed out and not craftable
    • Like one person said earlier: People who don't speak your language
    • Now, I might abandon my team sometimes, but that's gotten us farther as they tend to get themselves killed and I craft their banners and respawn them so they can try that again. Until I'm with them and the enemies chase me to the replicator and keep me from getting my allies back.
      • Yes that's a previous match with an EA/Apex friend and one of his friends.
      • I'm a Master respawner, decent reviver, decent sniper, and lousy close quarters guy.
        • I do wish we could Résumé things like that so our allies know what we're good at
    • I also don't like it when someone has the chance to craft or respawn us and they just ignore it and head for the first firefight they can find.
    • I also don't like getting put with people who drop early or with several other squads. One squad fine but more than that it suicidal.
    • And Wraith mains tend to do the above two a lot. I see wraith as jumpmaster I automatically think "this is a wasted match."
      • I tend to either get wasted because of them or go far far away as support, wait for them to die, and don't get the chance to craft them because they leave when downed.
      • EVERY TIME!
    • I've have 3+ matches a day where my team leaves around 15th place and I'm left solo all the way to Top 5, tending to be 2nd and 3rd. At least one of which I'm support. Majority of which we have/had a support in the group.
    • Thus I main supports to ensure I can craft banners. Lately Lifeline or NewCastle. Sometimes Mirage or Gibraltar. I don't have Loba yet but I think that'll be fun.

And to bullet it with Less detail

    • quitters
    • hackers & cheaters
    • lousy connection from ISP - nothing you can do about that
    • quitters
    • quitters
    • and more quitters
    • unable to communicate / not my language
    • etc

I do wish I had a little aim assist, would help a little for CQ. (PC-Steam)

Especially since everyone seems to bullseye me and I can't touch em but with no more than 5 bullets from an automatic in several mags.

And I typed this up thinking I was in another thread... of course...

  • I honestly played with one player that I became rather good friends with and he was similiar skill to me lets say in Apex legends based on rank. Well he used controller and I didn't know until we played around in fire range and suddenly he said I want to try out MnK real quick and as soon he switched to MnK well you would belive he was bronze-silver and not close to diamond rank. As soon the controller with aim assist came back into picture well I will tell you how vastly different it was playing against that. multiple headshots and managed to match me on every level of the game. For a player that can use a controller efficient and also benefit from this massive aim assist you have in this game is broken when you keep matchmaking PC and Controller lobbies.

  • @Zulkiers Quitters actually are penalized even with craftable banners, at least in ranked but maybe not so much in original queue. My suggestion start playing ranked but that is not fun at all because of the new system is garbage

    A) that's the spot I originally posted it
    B) I pasted it into only 1 other thread
    C) Wish they'd treat normal BR similar to Ranked in the ways of timeouts for quitting
    D) Your friend always uses controller and almost never uses M&K, OF COURSE his playstyle would be vastly different.
If I swap to controller I'll be 3-5 leagues lower skill than remaining on M&K. I actually tried that a couple times.
    M&K: Lifeline - 3 kills, 4 revives, 7-9 Lifeline packages deployed, 1.5k damage - average match
Controller: Lifeline: 0 kills, 1 revive, 1-3 Lifeline packages deployed, 300 damage - average match
  • @Zulkiers Does that not prove the point that if you master one input why give one of the input unfair advantage?

Why do we have aim assist on controller? To be able to compete with MnK? If so how would they ever balance this added benefit to one of the inputs since everyones base skill in the input is not the same but the added benefit for that input is the same and builds ontop of already existing skill?

If it was not for the ability to compete with MnK but to make the game look and feel fun to be played on console then we have a severe issue since then it is not even based on the ability to compete against MnK....

I don't have the answer, I doubt any of the players have the answers and EA/RESPAWN/whatever the organization is called would not tell us. If not telling us the reason then would it be naive to just say it was to make the game feel and look fun for console players so they would keep playing? Since the console players stand for the majority of players and buyers of in game content I would assume whatever they do is to make sure controller players are pleased and feel like they can compete.
  • @drevinum9
How long had your friend played on mnk before then?
Mnk definitely takes a longer time to learn to use than a controller and you can imagine what shaking off the rust would be like if you hadn't used it in a while.

Imo, it's an even playing field.

  • Are you guys serious? This is not even a discussion to have.

In apex, the amount of time it takes to get good on controller is 180 hours of gameplay. That is what is agreed upon from decent players that switched to controller.

In a game, where aim is supposed to matter, the best players in the world, and some of the best aimers in the world can actually switch to a different mode of playing (a different skill - controller) and then do equally well or better as they do with mouse and key after 180 hours of practice, when they practiced aim with mouse and key maybe 100 000 hours. So pro players switching from mouse and key to controller? that is ridiculous for a game to keep something that makes that happen in the competitive scene. What a joke!

The aim assist on console is 0.6, fine, keep it like that, console is mostly for casual anyways. If they want to be hardcore they can come to PC
The aim assist on PC for controller is 0.4, which is still way too much. That is half an aimbot almost, aimbot kinda gives players an advantage in shooting games.
Adjust it to 0.2, even then people will start to notice its a bit off, but its not a gamechanger. It really should be 0.0 for PC lobbies, so that the recoil that is past human reaction time to control on PC is also that on console so there is no gap in DPS/time that its possible to do.

@lowpush3v1roller Most people I fight and 90% of the people I play with are PC. Anyone I see on Console winds up dead quickly.
    Quit dissing them.
Console is still at disadvantage than PC.
Especially since PC can get hacks that EA still hasn't rectified.
1/5th of my opponents kill me 15 meters around corners. Run distance 30 meters. NO Line of Sight. And they machine gun me. That's a PC Hacks thing, NOT a console aim assist thing.

That 0.0 is never going to happen until they make controllers that can aim as precisely as a mouse.
Currently they just can't do it. They have a very limited precision aiming which is why they have aim assist.

Also those "decent players" likely have ample experience in both mnk and on controller, and the time it would take to get good at any game on any input depends on the player themselves. Not everyone learns at the same speed, and not everyone has the same skill threshold.

Saying someone shouldn't be allowed to compete or can't be a hard-core player because they prefere a different imput is one of the dumbest things I've heard.

@lowpush3v1roller Typically the people that switch from mnk to controller do not need nearly the amount of time due to the following-
1- It takes more than input and aim to be good at this game. The people really good at the game have crazy game sense. That isn't reset or lost when changing inputs.
2- A controller is natural for gaming. The keys and inputs are much more limited so you don't have to learn nearly as much. It is simply easier to use and get up to speed on.
3- Many of the mnk people likely played on controller in the past, probably on console. When they got their PC they switched to mnk due to it being so much better on most games. This change makes it easier to convert.

One other thing. An argument is better if people do not exaggerate. 100,000 hours is over 11 years.
