Re: Arena leavers

As you mentioned, you don't want to join a game that has a missing player because it's not fair on them.

The only way to balance it is to increase power to remaining players through the shop resource system to fill the gap the missing player has left.

Buffing damage done / received can negatively impact the match as clutch plays can still be made.

    @burnzey91 Eh, if they properly matchmaked teams, there shouldn't be a leaver issue.

    I still think filling in the missing player would be a good idea, except the player entering the game would get a prompt like: "You're about to join a game in-progress" and it would tell the player the arena score, asking them if they want to join the game.

    I don't think buffing damage, reducing incoming damage, and changing shop is the way to go, simply because people would have teammates leave on purpose, and then suddenly the trio team can't do anything about the duo team, as the duo team can just run R-99's and other strong guns like the EVA.

    Also, even if they did do that, you won't be able to benifit from it, because most "leavers" Alt + F4. Which, if you don't know, crashes the current window and closes it. So, players would close the game and walk away. They don't "leave" the actual match until 10 minutes later, due to the game giving them a chance to reconnect. As someone who Alt + F4'ed once, because it was absolutely pointless (terrible teammates who cannot aim and were toxic, VS smurphs), I can confirm that Alt + F4ing gives ZERO punishments. Which, if they're going to have a penalty, it needs to be implemented correctly. You can't Alt + F4 in normal ranked (that I know of), as it punishes you for things like dashboarding.

    Players still gamer rage, whether through over time pent up frustration or other wise.

    It doesn't make sense why you'd leave anyway, matches last 5 minutes if you're being smashed.

    I've been in other online games where you've joined the losing side to make up for deserters. It's not fun, and often is hard to swing it back to your favour. It ruins your stats if you're keeping up with that and is ultimately more frustrating.

    Yeah changing damage modifiers won't solve the issue and is a band aid fix that will be toxic to all players remaining. I can see people abusing it 100%.

    I honestly think the best solution is just divvying the credits from the leaver between the remaining party members. More resources to spend on tacticals / health regen / weapon mods can increase your chance of winning through skilled play and makes up for the missing team member if you're able to buy that one extra shield battery

    @burnzey91 My solution:

    For 3v2, one player of the 3 members team gets a spectator view, so inactive for one round. This status is exchanged among the players of the larger team in each round. There is always another player as the spectator. This way there will always be the same number of active players on both sides.

    A player who spectates can exit the game without any penalties or consequences (no Win, no Lose).
    For 3v1 and 2v1, things would work similarly.
    No coin is available for spectation.
    The player who kills moves his killing coins to the next active turn.

    IMPORTANT: Players who are inactive (afk, offline etc.) for more than one minute (or one round) must be kicked out of the game.
