You should be able to type/text on PC when you're downed or killed. If you're typing right after you're killed and it shifts to recap screen you can momentarily lose what you're typing, but once you're spectating a teammate it should allow you to re-type again.

Are you using any overlays? It's possible a third party program could be interfering with it.

    Hi and thanks for the reply, but I am on ps4 console. Chat has always worked up until one of the recent updates. Normally I just pressed the touchpad and the text option would appear. Unfortunately not anymore. Oh and by the way my touchpad works fine for getting the map up with a click, so its not that.
