Re: Leave Penalty A Poor Excuse To Fix A Problem

@sireladio

Just a comment on your first line: "With the introduction of a leave penalty in game it is clear Respawn have no idea how to fix an issue created by them self."

The "problem" is entirely created by us players, where some people insist to play it with random people, with random play styles, with random competitiveness, with random experience, and random try-hardness AND with the expectations that these factors will be exactly according to their preferences.

These guys will NEVER be satisfied. If Respawn hypothetically implements a perma-ban the first game you leave, thus solving the "leaver problem" forever, people will come here crying about certain behaviors of your random team mate. "Boho my randoms dont try to pick up my banner or revive me at all times", "my randoms arent skilled enough", "my randoms wont push when I push/snipe when I snipe" "my randoms dont ping and communicate in the manner that Im used to" etc etc.

So there is no solution to this "problem" other than this: get some gaming friends (easiest via Discord I guess).

While you say the problem is created by players I disagree on the basis there is no alternative. Most BR games allow for different amount of players . Normally 4 ,3,2,1. Apex however fails to give this option.

Due to this the only option ingame is playing with randoms. When you take this into account the issue is based on respawn for failing to give basic BR modes.

Next you blame the players however fail to blame respawn. There is no ingame group finder. There is no real way to easily find people of your skill. Inside tthe game.

If respawn wanted to force groups a built in group finder like overwatch has would have been an obvious route.

Also you blame players for being random. Sorry to tell you even in a perfect world people will play there own way. Due to this you are now punishing people who have no alternative and for doing what comes naturally.

Respawn is to blame for the issue 100%. Saying ow well find a group in discord is a ridiculous excuse. When solo and duo is a fixtured game mode then we can talk about suspension and bans for leaving in group matchs. However until these become fixtures the issue is not dealt with.

Remember. If respawn punish you for DC there will be major issues. So respawn have to make DC's imune from punishment. If this is the case it takes even the most computer illiterate user 5 minutws to work out they can easily Dc and skirt the ban.

Next is the issue of griefing.  If i thought of ways to abuse people with it so will others. This then creates anothwe issue and doesnt even fix the core issue.

Sorry but this punishment system is a flawed concept by people complaining cause randoms leave. Whats next? Bans for failing to respawn? Suspensions for not picking up banners.  Its stupid and people who think this os gpong to Improve the game are seriously mistaken. Expect the player base to drop again once it comes into affext

Maybe the ones that leave games prematurely, never pick up your banners, or solo drop somewhere else on the map away from your squad? We hope once this goes into effect it's not going to deter anyone from playing more nor do we want players to feel like they're being "punished."

There's a lot of forum posts though from others that feel too many players are solo jumping elsewhere or just not being patient enough to wait for teammates to grab their banner. Ranked is competitive and this feature in sense should help encourage others to reach a common goal of moving up the ladder.

It might seem like a long time spectating your teammate and hopefully they give you some signal they'll go for your banner, but there times when going for the banner is simply just too risky. If you timed out and want to earn more RP, put faith in your teammate and continue to spectate. Toss out some calls for them that might make the difference between 5th place and 3rd. Can't tell you how many times some teammates quit early and still finished top 3 by myself.

nothing will ever stop me from leaving as long as I keep ending up with squad that does 80 damage in several squad fights and fully geared, the only progress i see here is me removing this game from my computer, it is insane how bad can people be.... fresh example 2 of us are fighting and our 3d guy is looting, and i mean slowly going from box to box and taking what he needs than hides and leave our banner as he runs away, I am seeing players level 100+ not being able to land, everyone has a bad day but the randoms I keep running into are like a punishment for my nervs. They are USELESS. More I am thinking more I am getting to a conclusion that F2P is bad for this game

  • The only time I have purposefully let a teammate die was when they first took an item that I pinged, and then later looted the body of an enemy, while I was down, that I had killed and which they didn't contribute to because they rolled into the fight late. So I let him die in the next fight so I could loot the stuff which should have been mine.

Toxic?  Probably... But justice was served.

@IAmTheMeddler  there is not enough action options in this game to express the level of my toxicity for the brain dead trash out there

@EA_BlueberryI’m actually happy you’re doing this. Despite the fact that I occasionally leave early due to friend invites.

I definitely avoid it now, mostly because I get frustrated when it constantly happens to me. But I sort of understand why people do it. If you get an invite from a friend who’s hard to team up with.. well I can’t blame them for leaving instantly. But what I have been doing is just joining their party and asking them to wait.

This update will definitely discourage me from doing it.

@Sarrgeras Numerous points.. 1. We were all noobs to gaming at some point. So the players who can only do 80-100 damage, who cares?! They have to learn and practice some how.

If it’s that big of a deal then make a looking for groups and put together a team. It’s really not that difficult to do. That or play ranked exclusively.

I’m horrible at this game. Yet if my squad goes down and I can’t revive or respawn. I can still typically get us to top 5 via conflict avoidance and hiding. I’ve come close to getting a W by myself twice.

The idea you think its not going to deter people playing is funny when you putting in a system that punishes you for wanting to play your own way.
Your comment is a direct contradiction in itself and fails to address the issue of if Solo and Duo modes where core features this would not be happening most games any way.

Next you want to bring up solo jumping. If these people are so worried about playing as a team why dont they follow the solo jumper? To blame the solo jumper and ignore the others who are more than capable of following him is a cop out. Also you keep talking about just ranked? We will get to this point in a second so hold tight.

    Now to your final point,
You continually keep bringing up ranked only. Stop ignoring that this will be also active in normal also.
If this was a ranked only punishment I could understand however thats just not true. It is going into affect across the board. So continually trying to use ranked as your example  is a clear attempt to mislead the conversation.

This whole issue stems from the lack of sight by respawn to understand the most played modes in all BR is Duo and Solo. Respawn failed to add this into there game and due to this it has caused people just to leave who didnt want to be stuck in a team any way. Respawn are fixing a result of the issue not the issue itself.

You honestly keep side stepping the core issue and blaming the players not the developers for a clear oversight.
Respawn - "Ok Players, We are not giving you solo or duo and are going to force you into 3 man squads. However we are going to punish you for wanting to play and not watch random people run around for 10 minutes."
