First of all, are you seriously going to try to tell me that caustic players play outside of zone so much that having his traps go away outside of zone would drop his pickrate to zero? When you're outside of zone, your priority should be getting back into zone, not bunkering up a building with gas traps. His traps also aren't even remotely critical to fighting outside of zone. Caustic's ability doesn't make sense outside of zone, but also tend to be a certain death sentence to anyone who gets hit by one in anything above round 1 (and its not easy to deal with in round 1).
Also you say no other legends' abilities disappear in the ring? This is just flat out wrong. Lifeline's drone disappears, I'm pretty sure Wattson's gen disappears, Revenant's totem disappears. If healing abilities aren't allowed outside of zone why should damaging abilities where someone just laid a trap and forgot about it and ended up griefing a team? The only reason wraith's portal disappears outside of zone is because of the exploit where wraith teams would create long portals during last ring closing to survive longer. That was the only part of her ult related to the ring that was "overpowered" and without the ability to portal her teammates back into zone or portal to loot boxes etc, she took a pretty big nerf on that one. Wraith's portal is actually useful outside of ring for, you guessed it, getting back into zone.
Furthermore, I was not playing wraith, but I can clearly tell that you've never touched her in your life. Because the voice from the void only works when you're about to activate the trap anyway and have no time to react. If you activate a caustic trap outside of zone, you're now in a cloud of gas which you have to get out of. Sure you take 10 damage... every second. You're also slowed while the ring is biting 5 damage every second as well. Also you say traps are pretty easy to see. But the zone severely inhibits vision and caustics like to pop those things behind walls. So once again, no. The traps were not easy to see.
"so you come to EA help to share why you thing an all ready bad legend should be nerfed down a hole just because you died to him" - I don't know why you're acting like I'm some crybaby asking for a nerf. Caustic traps outside of zone offer him very little utility. I've already presented several reasons why the traps outside of zone offer no out for the person running into them, while the caustic did essentially nothing and just got lucky.
"If you had that little health in you" - I was actually almost full health. You're drastically underestimating the combination of ring damage, gas damage, and stun (so you can't get away from the gas damage)
- BigMacAttack8u4 years agoSeasoned Ace@N19htf0x This is full of lies that I would like to point out. For one “Lifeline's drone disappears, I'm pretty sure Wattson's gen disappears, Revenant's totem disappears.” lifelines drone has a shortened time, it is not obsolete. Wattson and revenant have no changes, I don’t know where you got that false information. Your suggestion would make it so Caustic couldn’t place traps in the ring which is an insane idea, it would throw his pick rate and the balance of his abilities down to basically nothing (which they already are). I have played games of wraith, because my friends kept saying how fantastic she was, but I never liked her personality, so I don’t play her much (same with mad Maggie). As for this: “Sure you take 10 damage... every second. You're also slowed while the ring is biting 5 damage every second as well. Also you say traps are pretty easy to see. But the zone severely inhibits vision and caustics like to pop those things behind walls.”
It only does 5 damage a second for two seconds, two seconds is plenty of time to get from one end of the gas to another, I know this because I have done it, and enemies have done it to me. This is not an irregular occurrence that it only takes two seconds, it happens almost every time unless the enemy player doesn’t know how to run. The ring should have no slowing effect, the fact that you say it does, makes me wonder if you actually play. As for the placing it behind walls/ around corners, that is just smart placement. You can’t complain when a player is smart, unless the difference is drastic, in which case you should complain about matchmaking. “I don't know why you're acting like I'm some crybaby asking for a nerf. Caustic traps outside of zone offer him very little utility.” as for this, as you asked me, have you ever played this character? His traps are essential for locking down locations, blocking doors, or stoping am enemy advance. These qualities are essential when in the ring, if you can’t prevent steam from pushing you while you heal from the ring, then you die. These traps are also good for the exact thing you are complaining about, stoping an enemy from getting out of the ring. This is how caustics play, they throw gas at you mercilessly, you can’t expect someone not to be waiting around a corner. If you expect free passage out of the ring, you send yourself to a doom you made. Also as you pointed out yourself they do offer caustic ring help, you got damaged and slowed, so that offered him time to escape, if he didn’t have the ability to even place traps in the ring it would be detrimental to him. I welcome you to actually propose a valuable idea that is not just I died so pls nerf an all read horrible legend. If you really fell so strongly about this, we can have this convo over email, you can message me through this website by clicking on my name in the blue: @BigMacAttack8u if you want any more apex legends conspiracy theories debunked you can contact me there as well. I would fact check your info before you go spouting that things are unfair. Happy gaming!- 4 years ago
First, I never said the ring damage slows you. Its the caustic gas that slows you. Or have you never played as anyone other than caustic who is immune to it in the first place?
I'm not complaining "Just because I died to it". I have valid points here that you seem to just be handwaving away.- 4 years ago
Also I'm not asking that the traps be completely unusable. I'm asking for them to go away after a certain period of time like almost every other placeable legend ability outside of zone.
10-15 seconds is more than enough time for a caustic to get the utility out of their trap and get away from a team that's trying to grief them outside of zone. But running into a random caustic's trap while heading back to ring, when that caustic is nowhere to be seen and probably had no intention of laying the trap to gatekeep zone, is a death sentence due to bad luck. Furthermore, that caustic actually didn't get the kill on me. My teammates survived (barely) were able to lay down a heat shield and revive me. I'm saying that under no circumstance should two caustic traps outside of zone almost lead to a squad wipe.

And if you're going to call me a liar, please at least show some shred of proof. I've personally seen revenant's ult disappear (and faster than the ult's normal timer), and I said lifeline's drone disappears not that it disappears instantly. It's timed, like the caustic traps should be.
- BigMacAttack8u4 years agoSeasoned Ace@N19htf0x I said you’re points were misinformation, I did not call you a liar, I try not to jump to conclusions to much. As for the lifeline tactical, I was under the impression you meant instantly, as you did not expand or specify. I would recommend you report the revenant ult problem in the bugs section of the HQ, as that is not supposed to be occurring. It could also be just a misjudgment, if you were actually timing it (like clicking start and stop on a phone) it could make for a minor difference, that could be dismissed as reflex time. Only having caustic traps las 10-15 seconds after they have been placed is still a horrible idea. An example of how is: the enemy only has to wait 10-15 seconds to just chase. If it is an Octane, Wraith, Bloodhound, Valkyrie, Ash, or Mad Maggie, they could make up 10-15 seconds of time easily. Also you could only prevent a push into a building in the ring for 10-15 seconds? Typically we’ll say there are 2 doors in your average bottom floor building, and one staircase. You would need one trap per each door and one for the staircase. Caustic traps take 20 seconds to charge, a full minute to replenish what took 10-15 seconds to destroy, without even the aid of an enemy. Also what level ring were you in that a Caustic trap related death could have occurred? As for your question on what legends I play, I do mainly play caustic, but I also play a lot of Pathfinder, Octane, Bloodhound and Mirage. It would be highly unlikely for any player to play exclusively caustic, as he is not an originally free legend, he was also one of my last legends I unlocked. Also I do not feel your opinion on this topic is valid, as I assume you don’t play caustic a lot, from what I can tell in your posts. I have played many games on him, and have been with him through ups and downs since season 8. I hope you play some 20 games a caustic and realize what you are saying would have the legend become the never picked legend. As for lifelines drone, and wraiths portal disappearing, those are both abilities that offer health or ring immunity, which is a very big advantage. If being near a Caustic trap, led to fast healing and reviving, I might entertain the idea of a 10-15 second timer on that ability, but as of now it offers no ring healing or immunity powers. I do hope you spend some time to play caustic and realize how bad he is compared to other legends, even ones with lower pick rates. Pick rates mean nothing in the case of actual legends stability, as I said I have played caustic since season 8 and have not left, because I enjoy his persona more than any other legend. A lot of people used to play Caustic, because he was OP in his earlier days, now they just play him and win because they are good, and have been playing. He should revive a buff, back to where he was in season 10 rather than a catastrophic nerf. His gas traps being destructible has all ready been a heavy blow. I would suggest instead of destructible, that they be able to be move slightly with punches. I hope you found this interesting and play your 20 games, happy gaming!
