Re: (REWORK) Megathread Lifeline / Newcastle megathread

@ThisIsYourMoment Nice comment! I played overwatch before and see were youre going. I think if devvs take a look at this post or threat this ult change would be a bridge to far, nethertheless on some point they decided to turn 180 on her revive system and thats were everything started to rumble. I think they have to change it back but more likely make a rework revive system. What do you think would be a better balanced and new revive system?

Unfortunately now EA has an opportunity to "sell" a new legend so they are willing to give the "OP" skill again to someone else. I agree 100% that LL needs to be brought back to relevancy.

@ROTTERDAM-BOSS What I mean is back when the shield was taken away from LL while rezzing it was because the concept of the ability was too powerful. Now with the hype of a new season they add a new legend with that similar concept of ability and more that can be purchased with either legend upgrade points or apex points (which can be bought with real money). Not t mention a whole market of new cosmetics for said new legend. I am not against new legends at all. Quite the opposite. I am however disappointed that they chose to bring something to the new legend that they took in concept from another one because it was deemed game breaking instead of being more creative with the new and giving back the old ones original kit.

@therealbackpain thanks for clearing up! I think your right about new legends with comparable abilities. The focus here should be on Lifeline’s revive system. There should be a clear difference between “Defense” and “Support”. I think the line between those are now very thin. The only support Legends are Lifeline and Loba right now. Loba actually is good in what she does, supply teammates with goodies and ammuniton. Loba stealing banners from her shop would be a great idea though (support wise) but that is not the focus right now. At least two (Gibby & Newcastle) defense characters have now stronger revive systems than Lifeline. Let’s be honest yes the old revive shield system was strong but what does she actually have left? Maybe they should bring her shield back but this time breakable?

Reddit covered a lot ideas as well! Here an example; They should take a look at something like this.

Also considering that they both have damage reduction and shields they can throw up, while lifeline is completely vulnerable at all times when reviving.

@ROTTERDAM-BOSSTo respond to your question (sorry this is late), I think while her character does very well based around the concept of a combat medic, at the same time I don’t think she should be so reliant on teammates already being downed to have an active use of her abilities. Therefore I’m not so worried about making her too centered around her revive mechanics. I think any changes done should be to her ultimate (such as what I was talking about in my first comment) and her tactical, and making sure they compliment one another as well as the passive when used in combination. A worthwhile idea is for her tactical to have an increased movement speed and tether range to where it can follow you into combat at full sprint and give your team some extra healing as you fight, no matter how much movement you’re pulling. It would help top off your health on some fights and really be more of an asset in active gunplay, as opposed to how it is now where you have to stay in one spot for the healing or otherwise risk diving in and out of battle to return to the drone for heals.

@ThisIsYourMoment Might be late, but i’ll still take it ;p. Thanks for sharing your tought about Lifeline. I think this will be a great idea. Still i don’t think this is her thread. I don’t know if your maining LL?

I think the real problem for lifeline mains is the lot of fun playing her and feeling special to be their for your squad when they need you (she’s so static). As a Lifeline main you should be able to be the difference between “Squad eliminated” or “Reset”.

As a LL main i can’t let her down, i still keep playing her but if you would ask me if i still like to play her, the answer is no, it’s just principle and love! My pov is that whatever will happen with her she need a better revive mechanic. She should be good at what she does (reviving) and she isn’t. It really hurts!

A drone following you, better ults for me its al not a priority. But yes! I like your idea and in would love to see it! ❤️

@ROTTERDAM-BOSSI had whole reply written but my phone died haha, I’ll try to rewrite as much as I can:

I getcha! I’m unfortunately not a lifeline main, so I don’t necessarily have the most informed opinion on her. However it is my general belief that, for all legends, no major part of the utility of their kit should be too reliant on otherwise unwise play from you or your teammates, like having abilities too far centered around revives or respawns. The object of the game is to not get to the point of needing a revive or respawn. However that doesn’t mean those kind of abilities shouldn’t exist, I actually encourage it for future legends, just on passives only though. Therefore I wasn’t too worried about the strength of her passive, only how can the rest of the kit compliment the current one. Anyway, you already knew all this though, and at this point I’m just rambling, so if there is any change to her actual passive as it is now, my ideas are:

For starters, to make her revive invincible, unable to be cancelled by shooting and killing the downed teammate until they fully revive. It’s not a major change, but what it does do is stall, and that could be all the difference between winning and losing a fight, giving just that little bit of extra time for lifeline and/or the third teammate to return fire so the revived ally to get away (or fight back, if they’re feeling risky). And it prevents them from being downed again or fully killed until they actually have their weapon out, so it can come in clutch in niche situations. Of course the enemy can always camp the revive but it still gives your team that precious extra time. To prevent camping however, there was an idea which I had on my own post that I made covering various legends, and that was for the DOC to stun and deal small damage when enemies get too close. I think this could be adjusted to instead apply to the revive drone to prevent enemies from trying to hang out on top of the reviving ally, which could be useful and tricky in its own right. All this implies that lifeline is not immediately present during the revive however, which is because my third idea is for lifeline to be able to revive at a decent range (10-15m) while also maintaining an advantageous position to fight from. She could just send out her drone with no need to rush in to where your teammate just got downed only to get downed yourself. Anyway, those are my thoughts, let me know what you think!

@ThisIsYourMomentThose clutch moments sliding like a crazy medic in the open to put up you shield and revive was so satisfying and cool!

If there is no space for a return for Lifeline shield incl (knockdown or breakable), i think sending DOC drones that would revive and stun enemies would be a great idea to add to Lifeline’s arsenal. Thank you for your input i will add this idea to “Accept as solution” list!
