"we wanted to make a game where you can anticipate player action, build a plan around and try to get a drop on an opponent"

Yes, you get to that with experience as a player not by gutting mechanics from the game.

I played titanfall 1 and 2 and i thought you could allready do those 2 things in titanfall 1 and 2, even while moving faster. Titanfall never felt for me as if i could not do what the guy is talking about in your quote. I think the game would feel a lot better with titanfall movement.   I really miss wallrunning, bunnyhopping  and the TF2 grappling hook to keep the momentum high and navigate around the environment in a more complex, more interesting and more free way.

I like the game, but without titanfalls movement system i can not see myself playing this game for longer then a week. If it had titanfall movement and  some of the buildings would be designed more welcoming for complex wallrun and grappling passages along and through multiple building and not as simplistic, more like in titanfall, this would be my new favorite game for a long time, for sure.

You and probably most of the titanfall community, but I do get what he's saying tho. In titanfall wallrunning, bunnyhopping and grapling works because you get 'no penalty' for utilizing those mechanics. Here, at least in my case, I would rage if I got killed by a random grenade while I'm grapling or wallrunning. In titanfall that wouldn't be the case cause I'd respawn back in.
Next to that, many ppl sucked in titanfall to be blunt. I know when I first played TF1 I dominated every match just cause of my shooting skillz and ppl not knowing how to play the game. Same in TF2. Same would likely happen here. The first ppl to play or the ppl who spend a large amount of time in initial days are gonna be the domineering factor in each match. I think they try to diversify or at least simplify it so it'l be more like a casual shooter with a twist so everyone can enjoy.

Would I want the titanfall mechanics, heck yea. I would love to kill ppl while wallrunning behind them, but I can live without it till TF3 comes. But likely to the TF community, this game will be a painful reminder so it won't be fun to play for long. Just like you state @2much2kill
  • Idk i think the game would blow up even way more if it had wallrunning and bunnyhopping in it to maintain your momentum better. Not only titanfall veterans like those kind of mechanics. In general everything which makes this game faster would feel like a breath of fresh air compared with all the other battleroyals which are rather slow moving.

I think, most people who never played titanfall before would go nuts, in a very positive way, the moment they chain their first wallruns and bunnyhops together. It would be a pretty adictive and freeing thing to try to move faster and faster through the different areas and use the environment better and better every round. I mean noobs get stomped no matter what. The only thing which can prevent bad players from getting destroyed is a good matchmaking, which puts only roughly equally good players in one round together. Even now without those faster movement options noob players get outplayed by better aiming players.

I think the joy of fast movement would overcompensate most peoples potential anger of getting outplayed by someone who can chain their movement otions better together.

There's always the option to play TF2 for that 😜 @2much2kill, but I certainly agree. I loved wallrunning, jumping, grapling onto a building, dropping mid grapple, land behind an enemy and snap his neck. The transitions were just fluid. But I think Respawn is trying to differentiate between main titanfall and just the TF universe.
  • They could just add hardcore, classic server or a hardcore gamemode where you had wallrunning and bunnyhopping in it. So that you can just pick this gamemode or spawn on those hardcore server if you want to play with wallrunning and bunnyhopping.

I also think this game feels not really different compared to titanfall. It has very simular graphics, the environments and level assets look very simular to titanfall. The weapons are very simular to titanfall and the crouch slide has also a very simular feeling. They also added the grappling hook out of TF2, or at least a less fun version of it, with shorter range and lower pulling speed.

I think they are simply so afraid of scaring any potential player of this game away, that they just toned down the titanfall formular way to much to a point where it has not anymore enough complexity and depth to occupy most people for a longer time. A multiplayer game needs depth and hard to master mechanics orelse people get bored to fast and stop playing it.

Thats at least my take on the situation here.

@2much2kill, I concur with that entire message. Would be sweet, but I'd not bet my bank on it to happen unfortunately. But I've been wrong in the past... ohh how I've been wrong... so prove me wrong here devs, but likely not.

@TheTopMostDog go buy TF2 and feel the difference. You might not change your mind but will have experienced the feeling why the community (for some reason) is so letdown of a non titanfall game that doesn't have the whole titanfall feel XD. Unless you played TF1 of course, then you already know how it feels.
