Reason for huge difference hitbox size

Hey there,

what is the reason for these difference in the size of the hitboxes?

We all play Apex and this game is a shooter, ok with Legends and some tactical abilities, but if you aim better than your opponent you will win the fight.

So the point is that a Legend with a big Hitbox like Gibraltar, Caustic, Revenant, Pathfinder and perhaps Fuse have a BIG disadvantage against every other Legend.

Ok, Gibby and Caustic has Fortified and get 15% less dmg, this is no gamebreaking design but much better thant nothing like the other big Legends!

I do not understand why the devs implemented such a big s... like these difference Hitboxes?!?

Try out and fight with Rev, Path against a Wraith, Octane, Lifeline or our little Girl from France ).

This game would like to be competitive ?? haha, no way if there are so huge dis/advantages in the game like the size of the Hitbox!!

So fix it, lower the HB from the biggest Legends, remove fortified and make the size from the lowest one bigger, than perhaps we have a competitive game...

  • A crouched wratih is a hell, and also the fine line of horizon too.

    No sense, you're right, if you shoot a pacekeeper to wraith or horizon, she take less damage, because lees pels hit him, same for horizon and other liltle hitboxes.

    I agree that it feels in principle like bad decision making to have such a wide range of hitbox sizes, and yet...

    Once it's a known thing, and it is and has been since day one, then hitbox size becomes just another variable in the game that you have to take into account when engaging the enemy, just as you would take into account an emeny's abilities, weapons, position, etc. Yes, if feels unfair that Wraith gets away with murder (literally) when others have a hitbox the size of a billboard. Why else would she have the pick rate that she does? But in the end, she isn't unkillable, especially if you take the time to realize what you need to do to turn the odds back in your favor. With the smaller legends that mostly means letting them get closer before engaging. That isn't always easy to do, but the complexity of the game is half the fun.
  • @reconzero One thing they could do, but can't figure out why they dont, is take the legend with the biggest hitbox, apply that hitbox to all the legends.

    Yes, there will be areas where the hitbox is bigger than the visible legend, but so what? Why is that a problem? I honestly don't see how a hitbox bigger than the visible portion of the player would be bad. It would level the playing field perfectly. I see zero downside to this. However, the inverse would be horrible, apply smallest hitbox to all legends.

    I see you and I raise: just make the smallest legends (Wraith, Lifeline, etc.) physically larger with the appropriately sized hitbox. Fatten 'em up a little. Good for the game, good for young girls to not be exposed to unrealistic body types and whatnot.

    @reconzeroLet’s just have an event where everyone is wrapped in bubble wrap to make them all the same size, then they have to run into each other. Everyone has double health, and no guns or abilities are allowed, but you can still quip. Holosprays appear on your head when thrown.

  • @Iradekhorne chances to hit the head of a crouched legend is far more easier for me then when they run around.
    You dont have to decide body or head, cause you hit both at the same time :D

    If wraith is closer, like she can punch ur b..., you even can't see it, but anyway if you still manage to see and shoot it, of course you shot body and head, but one pellet each xD.

    Anyway we all know wraith passive of rush vs 2 teams, die and instant disc.
