Regarding Apex's RC Filtering Anti-Cheat Update
I've had enough of Respawn's changes to Apex's controller handling. I've played about 2,500 hours of Apex on Steam and 500 more on EA, and this is the dumbest change I've ever seen. I can understand Respawn restricting RC filtering — but I can't accept nerfing all controller players just to prevent RC filtering abuse.
I'm not exaggerating when I say my aim has become a total mess since the anti-cheat update. I even feel like the controller's aim assist has stopped working. Every time I launch the game, every match, every mode feels different — starting Apex now feels like playing a brand-new game.
I don't understand why Respawn is so obsessed with RC filtering while much more serious problems are running rampant: adapter/device cheats, AI aimbots, and so on. Open any shopping app and you'll see these adapters selling in the hundreds of thousands — and to this day they still work just fine. Ranked is flooded with low-level smurf accounts. Regular players can get kicked out of a match by cheaters the moment they enter, then be flagged as abandoning the match and hit with double RP loss and a ban. The anti-cheat can't stop any of that, yet it keeps normal players out of the game with anti-cheat errors and all kinds of bizarre bugs.
After Respawn's anti-cheat update, a huge number of controller players reported that their aim felt off and aim assist was behaving abnormally. As I said earlier, I don't know what Respawn changed in the anti-cheat that made so many controller players feel something was wrong. If it were only RC filtering being restricted, this kind of feel would clearly not be normal. There are many controller players on Bilibili reporting the same thing — the controller feel is off, and it changes from match to match.
If Respawn really wants to balance controllers, they should just separate controller and mouse-and-keyboard players into different matchmaking pools, disable input switching mid-game, and make mixed controller+MnK parties preferentially match against other mixed parties. That would be better for everyone.
