Requesting a return to deep narrative intros and "Stories from the Outlands"

Hi everyone,

I’ve been a massive fan of this universe since Titanfall 2, and I’ve been playing Apex Legends since Season 3. Because I’ve followed the game for so long, I wanted to share some constructive feedback regarding the current state of our character storytelling.

In the past, the "Stories from the Outlands" trailers were absolute highlights for the community. Those cinematics didn't just introduce a new Legend's kit; they gave us a reason to care about them. They explained who they were, their motivations, and how they fit into the larger lore of the Outlands.

Lately, it feels like that narrative depth has taken a backseat. While the gameplay itself remains solid, the "hero" aspect of this hero shooter feels a bit disconnected. When a new Legend drops without a dedicated backstory trailer, it becomes much harder for long-term players to feel invested in their arrival.

Relying on content creators or community speculation to fill in these gaps isn't the same as an official narrative introduction from the studio. The cinematic storytelling was a huge part of what made this game feel alive, and I along with many others who appreciate the lore would love to see a return to those high-quality, story-driven trailers that showcase why a character joins the Games in the first place.

Bringing that narrative "touch" back would go a long way in making every new season feel like a meaningful expansion of the world, rather than just a balance update.

Thanks for your time and for the continued work on the game.

  • Hello.

I fully support the request to bring back Stories from the Outlands. While narrative team is doing a great job of establishing characters’ personalities and relationships through in-game dialogs, the limitation of such medium (for gameplay reasons voice lines must be short and self-contained) allows only to portray the current state of things and not tell a story with a narrative arc. Transition’s descriptions are a great reading, but these vignettes always feel supplementary to the main narrative. Character’s bio is the best thing we have now, but it feels like a summary or a prologue to the tale (which is what it needs to be), so I always end up wanting to learn more after reading it.

Stories from the Outlands were such a great window into the world of Apex Legends and its inhabitants. They portrayed important moments in characters’ lives, showed us ways of living in different locales, and given all players a unifying anchor for their thoughts and discussions about where the narrative will go next. If Stories from the Outlands were sunsetted because they weren’t fitting into the new marketing cycle (you used to release 5 videos in two weeks leading to a season’s launch, now you do 2 videos in the last few days), then maybe you can release these narrative tales in a week or two after the launch of a season. You can tie the release of some related cosmetics to rollout of Stories from the Outlands if there’s a concern that post-launch premieres will feel random (and I’ll buy these narrative-inspired cosmetics).

Thank you for reading and I hope you have a nice day.
