A character should be awesome to play. But there also should be downsides to it. So far all I'm seeing across the Feedback part of this Forum is 'how to make Revenant even more awesome' - Yeah, all nice and stuff. But I can almost assure you that the mindset of several people is to "Not loose" or "To have an almighty character" - Because people want to keep improving him beyond what he's already capable of.
The point of my favorite character shouldn't be to be extremely powerful and awesome. He should be one of many options. One that can be good, but one that also has counters. Yeah, I like crypto a lot. Yet I don't go ahead and say how much I'd love his drone to shoot lasers because his tactical isn't all that great compared to some others.
So far, Revenant doesn't have much counters. But he's a counter to everything, as every legend is affected by his ability. There is no legend that can as example cleanse this effect, or take a buff from it. Or that can counter it directly. Nor is there a legend that can as example just detect his totem? The last time I used Bloodhound, I wasn't able to see it despite it being there.
That's the whole point of counterplay.
@Peri_Longbow_plzShadow forms are weak. When someone respawns at the totem, they are weaker.
Caustic can counter Revenant.
Pathfinder can kind of counter Revenant. (The zip line for getting outside the totems aoe, and then his grapple for actually reaching the totem.)
Gibby’s dome shield is still immune to the silence.
Passives aren’t blocked if you get hit with silence.
Crypto can slap his drone down to keep tabs on where the shadows are coming in, as soon as they show just melt them.
Not to mention that Revenant is very vulnerable to hammer point weapons. No other legend is weak to a certain weapon.
Plus, using sone kind of area denial ability is very good on the totem. (Caustic, Gibby, Bangalore, etc.)
Revenant is just good for strategic plays. He isn’t especially good in 1v1s, but he helps the team a lot.
There are ways to counter him, you just have to think of them and remember that shadow forms only have 100 health, can’t heal, and are limited to a certain area.
- 6 years ago@Sir_Named Caustic needs to find the totem first and prep it with the caustic gas trap. First issue. Pathfinder is not a direct counter, mobility is a counter and applies to most legends who can move fast. Gibraltar's dome shield counters everything, also comes with the downside of being a sitting duck, and what do we learn in the tutorial? A standing target is a dead target. Most passives are useless. *cough* Wattson *cough* Wraith. Crypto drone, same problem, find the totem first. In the time you position your drone, they likely found you already. What then? Dead, that's what you are. Hammerpoint weapons are strong against everything that only has health, likelihood of you only having health after fighting a revenant is high. Likely - just like him - you'll charge shields first like every individual with a bit of brain does. Or you go on a search while he takes his time healing. Next fight surely will be in your favor.
- 6 years ago@Peri_Longbow_plz Well, Lifeline isn’t really affected by the Revenant silence. Her most important combat mechanic is that she can heal 25% faster and revive faster, which is a passive.
Crypto doesn’t have to find the totem. He just has to position his drone at least in the direction the shadows are, to warn you when/where they are.
My main... point... (pun semi-intended) for hammerpoint is that it will destroy shadow form characters. The P2020 can really shred, and the Mozambique can deal high damage per shot fast. Other high damage weapons will also shred.
Plus, I think you are kind of overrating the silence. If you get silenced, use strafing skills or other movement skills to evade. This is especially true for a character like Wraith, who can’t really rely on her abilities anyway. Her tactical cooldown is 35 seconds, so it’s not something she can spam, and her ult wouldn’t really help in the thick of the fight. Her small hitbox is a big factor, and that isn’t affected by the silence ability.
I do agree Revenant doesn’t need more buffs, he is pretty balanced. (Although it would be nice if he could get a small climbing buff.)- 6 years ago@Sir_Named Uhh possible mistake there mate.
Unless they changed it recently, hammer point doesn't affect shadows at all.
Tested this.
