Rework Ash

An Open Letter to the Developers of Apex Legends

Dear Respawn Entertainment Team,

I’m not sure where else to share this, and I don’t know if my request will make an impact, but I want to do everything I can to ensure the game remains enjoyable for me and other Ash mains.

My concern is about the potential rework of Ash, which has been the subject of many rumors and fan discussions. A rework is usually understood as a complete overhaul or significant adjustment to a character’s abilities. There is speculation that Ash’s new abilities might incorporate elements inspired by the sword from Final Fantasy. Recently, I saw a similar mechanic for Ash on YouTube (possibly fan-made or official), and it greatly worried me.

Ash is a core legend for many players, including myself, and we don’t want this character to be diminished in any way.
I’d like to express my opinion: the current mechanic of the tactical ability “Arc Snare” is extremely important for Ash.

It allows players to:

  • immobilize enemies at crucial moments,
  • escape from pursuers,
  • chase down targets,
  • deal additional damage,
  • and use it creatively in a variety of situations.

For these reasons, I kindly ask: please do not replace Ash’s tactical ability “Arc Snare.”

If changes are unavoidable, then I urge you to modernize “Arc Snare” while retaining its core mechanics.

Regarding the passive ability, the idea of modifying “Marked for Death” on death boxes seems excellent and fits well with Ash’s identity and gameplay.

Overall, I don’t see a need to change Ash. She is already a well-balanced and engaging character. The only improvement I’d suggest is to make the activation of the ultimate ability, “Phase Breach,” faster — perhaps similar to Octane’s jump pad.

This is my feedback as a dedicated Apex Legends player.

I hope my request will be taken into consideration.

Thank you for your hard work and attention!

    My thoughts on Ash:
Marked for Death: Good, especially with the 60 second upgrade, that it very fun!
    Arc Snare: Fun
Ultimate: Fun as is. I don't want an instant cast on it or I'll be wasting it way too often. Unless that reticle is permanently active while ult is ready, which might get annoying.

I did think of an idea a bit ago, you know how they reworked and changed the classes of Valkyrie and Revenant? Perhaps we could get kits for each legend.
Bring back Revenant the Silencer for his Assault Kit.
I'm unsure what Valkyrie's Skirmisher kit would be because all parts got improved when moved to Recon. Perhaps just different upgrades, better jetpacking, and lose the threat vision while jetpacking?
Valkyrie the Assault could have better missiles and a damage blast on ult takeoff. Ah, better yet for the missiles: You equip the pods as a weapon, and Fire up to a certain number, reloading similar to Vantage Sniper but faster because it's tactical. Each rocket dealing 25 damage, straight shot, slower projectile compared to all other weapons. Probably comparable to EPG, can't wait to try that gun out when it gets here. EPG from Titanfall 2 is fun! Yes I still play that game from time to time. Anywho, firerate probably akin to P2020.

    Kits, not overhauls.
    One legend, multiple kits.
Perhaps a 6th bar for multi-kit legends, or customizable legends for some.
Revenant would definitely go in that bar.
    Valkyrie possibly.
If Ash gets an overhaul, then Ash too. I'd rather Ash not get overhauled.

How kit bar would work: Select legend, then select kit. If legend is already featured and auto selected, a specific kit is featured and therefore auto selected. If Selected and not chosen kit, it is random which kit if it wasn't your featured legend. Etc.
To select a kit, another bar will appear above the Kit bar housing the kits for that Legend. Select one there.
Legends can only use one kit at a time. Though Revenant technically could, it will apply to him too.

Speaking of, I'm thinking of a Support Octane.
In Titanfall 2, there is a Stim Pilot whose stim boost speed and grants health regen, not damage, but has a long cooldown (15 seconds tops I think).
Support Octane would probably have that, and may have the ability to cast it on a nearby ally. Passive and Ult TBD. Passive would probably be less health regen, akin to Launch Royale. If Ult is not Jump Pad, perhaps a stim gun to cast regen stim on allies? Otherwise Tac would have a difficult cast to let him decide self or ally, therefore not as easy to boost with as Skirmisher Octane.

Am I ranting? I'll shut up now.
  • They truly did rework Ash, to the point that she's absolutely game breaking at the moment. Even with the small nerfs the dash is just unnecessary. It's so strong it made me stop playing this season
