I'm a plat/diamond player normally, saying that to preface that I am neither a pro player nor a complete casual that's fresh installing.I really believe the Rank system in Apex needs refreshing. It's consistently disappointing solo-ing through plat and getting teammates that are skill-wise in Silver at best. While I could pin this on "SBMM," I think it has more to do with how easy it is to rank up in this game and how players cannot rank downwards. I know that several pros have mentioned removing tier protection which I think could be a start, but I also think it should be more challenging to rank up. With the amount of under-skilled players that are able to enter plat and Diamond in our current system, the solo/duo queue experience is a mess. My first idea was to remove the KP cap, make KP worth less on the RP scale, and keep the placement RP the same or potentially decrease it just a smidge. I understand this could encourage the rats to continue ratting every game, but I think it could overall encourage the Battle Royale element of this game where the highest bonus one can get is a win in Ranked. In my eyes, not everyone deserves the cosmetics/badges/trails that come with the higher ranks. The ease of our current rank system encourages a slow grind to D4 just to get enough for a dive trail even if you shouldn't have made it out of Silver I. Drop ideas or comments below since an idea from all of us is better than an idea from one.

I was gonna give input....but I think people need to realize one thing first.NO ranked system will work when the company that makes the game doesn't do anything about cheaters.

@iPyromix Professional players are forced to smurf by the lack of attention high-level ranked gets. They are consistently fighting cheaters and DDoS lobbies. I have sympathy for it

@MLBoozer Agreed. Inactivity in ranked has to be penalized, I get really upset when a teammate costs me RP. Ratting however is just part of ranked, I'm not going to commend it but it's a play style and it can be used or countered.Revenant is a whole issue right now. Too easy to use, and there are not enough consequences when a team uses his ult.PS: You can mute pings

@Irres169 Big facts. It's even sadder when I find a cheater in a platinum/diamond, because those are ranks one can pretty easily get into just by playing the game. They seem to not really care about cheaters though which is sad

@papahandsoapyeah I suggested this too, remove KP cap. I also suggested give rank points for respawns with a cap... so it favors teamplay not playing rat.

@Palette24carats I think making KP worth less (or making each rank more RP) can help as well. If you aren't getting kills and/or placement consistently in ranked, you won't rank up. Also having a KP cap never really made sense in the first place... All it does in theory is force high tier players to be in low tier lobbies for longer

I think removing tier protection would have a negative impact on the game. In general it'll likely just make people rank up and play the game less to conserve RP. In fact, that protection I believe is in place in general due to how Battle Royale's operate; due to the fact there are numerous factors that will cause you to lose games quickly that aren't directly in your control. Such as third, or even fourth parties. Sure you can mitigate being third partied by running away, but you can't majority of the time. You are still required to play at the ranked skill level you're in consistently to level past the tier or you will just be stuck in that tier, so removing protection would just be an unnecessary annoyance. I believe the ranked system is in a good place. The people who actually take ranked very seriously don't actually even play with randoms due to the wide spectrum of the skill group. The issue will still occur whether they implement your suggestions or not.

@papahandsoapI don’t play ranked, but in my opinion there shouldn’t be a kill point cap at all...

My theory is that this would encourage players to fight rather than camp or rat somewhere for placement points and it would be much easier for (Skilled) players to rank up if they are getting 10-20 kills a game and also would determine who the ‘’best of the best’’ really are once players get into masters/predators

respawn just need to remove that season split soft reset... it's getting boring to be reseted every time... it will be the first split where i only reach Gold now... wasted time, i not even have enough time to reach my rank.

So me, as a Diamond Player, will shave the Bronze & Silver rank soon... 😈

@Tom0ve Splits are needed in just about every rank game to make sure that Rank doesn't get over-inflated over time. In some games you need to replay placement matches, in Apex you just get set down a certain number of tiers. I prefer the Apex method as placement matches work out terribly, but I get that this can be frustrating. If they got rid of splits, the current system would allow a ton of low-skill players to creep into Diamond and even Master

@OoShellshock I can see where you're coming from but my rationale behind removing tier protection is to ensure that if you are not skilled enough to be in a tier you should not be in that tier. I know that sounds harsh, but I have played with a ton of Platinum players that would not have made it out of silver if silver/gold weren't so easy to solo queue out of due to low RP cost. I think this only discourages lower-skill players (not saying this is you or pointing fingers) from playing ranked, as it wouldn't discourage someone who can easily solo queue into those higher ranks.

@Tom0ve PS: A lot of preds and streamers are forced to smurf in ranked. I think anyone would smurf if their high-rank queue meant they have to play on 300 ping servers, wait for 10 mins between games, and still end up fighting against hackers consistently. Not saying smurfing is great, but the Master/Pred rank experience is pretty abysmal right now

The rank should only be reset once, when the season changes!

Same like Season 3, good old times... only the master's rank was missing there!

@Tom0ve Ahhhh I can get that. No issues with that, honestly if it's harder to rank up period I see no issues with one reset per season.
