Searched the forums for a post about Wattson and this was the most relevant one I found.
What could be improved about the fences:
I believe that the biggest weakness here is that people can see them a mile away. This leads to several negative effects for the team.
1. Your position has just been given away
2. Since they can be destroyed so easily (even by hiding them in corners), no one really cares that you put them down.
3. Like you mentioned - people just walk through them and shoot you in the face(laughing that you even bothered to place your fences :D)
4. Considering all of the above - kind of a waste of time.
Ideas for improvement:
1. As many have stated before - make the fences activate only when someone walks through them. This would hide your position but people could still spot the nodes on the ground and be careful about just rushing in a place(especially if they spotted a Wattson).
On a side note - Caustic's gas canisters aren't active all the time with a gas cloud that could be spotted and avoided, and shot to instantly dissipate the effects of his traps.
2. Make it so that it gives one large shock to enemies passing through and then the fence would need to charge back up for, say 5 seconds, or whatever time the Devs would consider appropriate. Throw a 2 sec slow in there?
Other ideas(not balanced but throwing them out there for grabs):
1. Give Wattson a passive that recharges shields up to 25% if she has less than that.
2. The extra shields on revive for companions could be cool(but then make the gold bag revive override this effect).
3. Make her fists do more damage(or slow the target) - Fists of lightning fury!! ZAP!!!
4. When she has the ult fully charged, give her an option to choose - place it down for the shield effect or keep it on herself to overcharge her shields or something. Faster shield regen? Does she need it? Probably not.
Bottom line - make fence invisible, please. Thamk! :D
I think it would be cool if Wattson actually did something unusual with her revives, as she shocks them, as opposed to nearly every other character who just jabs them with a syringe.

It is also a position revealing system for Wattson's team, though. :/
They don't really get stuck in the fence for a long time, do they? Once you've turned around to spot them, they are already out of the fence. If you're aiming at them and they start walking through, then yes, it works, but then the enemy was just suicidal. :D
- 6 years ago@Sizbang The fence doesn’t make them get stuck, and there is a good amount of time that they are slowed down, enough time to turn and shoot them. Or, move to attack them.
It can be revealing, but if you are in an enclosed building, they won’t know where everything is, and an ignorant player might not even know.- 6 years ago
I think one of the major issues with Wattson is that setting up her fences in a fight is unreliable.
It takes too much time and precision, as well as forcing the player to move from point to point risking themselves of getting shot. Sure you can make fences before getting into a fight, but you'll need to make sure the ring won't force you to move after your done setting, wait for a long cooldown to set up your fences, or waste an ult to set up the fences faster.
So you are done setting up the fences, then you are suddenly forced to move again because of the ring/aggressive teammates who like to push, as a result you either end up with no ult, or no fences.
Apex is a fairly mobile game where a player may have to be constantly on the move, but the limitations on Wattson make her tactical only useful in specific situations. Not to mention her ult is still super buggy (i.e. the pylon still destroys grenades when throwing them away from the pylon (more specifically when thrown down from on top of the building).

I made two of these buff Wattson threads. This was the first one and another was for Season 5.
Looking back at both threads, I see the devs finally gave us this:
- Wattson can stack 2 Ultimate accelerants per inventory slot
Which is what I wrote in this very first thread:
"Wattson can now hold up to 2 Ultimate Accelerants in her inventory at once now instead of 1. This is highly requested, Wattson needs these to make her viable in certain situations. Her ultimate can easily be destroyed and takes 3 minutes to get back."
Most of the people I saw claim Wattson was nerfed. I did make a long post on Twitter explaining things:
"I keep seeing people say Wattson was hit hard with her changes, but it's the other way around. Wattson's Pylon now last 90 seconds instead of forever. Looks like a nerf but this doesn't change much to be honest. Wattson got her ult in 180 seconds (3 minutes). This means when the 90 seconds ends, her percentage will be at 50% to another ult. Plus, she can now have 2 ult accels in her inventory which is huge. Three Pylons at once means a skilled Wattson main can hold a top or bottom of a building again with ease. Furthermore, Gold Helmet with her is decent again rather than a quick Pylon recharge. If my math is correct, before 90 seconds expire. Wattson ult charge with gold helmet should be around 70% to another ult. The major nerf Wattson really got was Crypto EMP destroying Pylon which is something that should have been a thing long ago. But Wattson has counterplay with 3 Pylons & ult accels. Loba can be a little sneaky against a Wattson main now but that is a Loba skillset which is awesome. There's nothing wrong with change. Players adapt even if their main Legends get changes. Patch goes live tomorrow and I'll still be maining Wattson and having fun. The meta change is still awesome to see as well. New playstyles to discover!

I'm excited Wattson actually got some changes. I still want to see something done about her fences, but for now. The main focus is seeing how the meta will change and increasing the skill gap of Wattson mains instead of just keeping only one Pylon up and running. I can now do things that I was able to do back in Season 2 again because Wattson can have 3 Pylons. It does matter and it will be fun seeing how other Legends ago against a Wattson team.i'll probably be making a third Wattson thread later this year but most likely for Season 6 to be honest. Other Legends really need to be looked at the most now. Mainly, Bangalore and Loba.
And I'll say it, Octane is still bad. Speaking for his recent buff found here just encase I confused anyone.

I don’t think their shield effects stack, unfortunately, but with 3 pylons you could really make a huge safe zone. Could be annoying to throw grenades out of it.
Yeah, there seems to be a power creep, Bangalore might need to be buffed. She’s only gotten like 2 changes ever, so she is pretty balanced, but other legends are just getting stronger and stronger.
We’ll have to see about Octane though. 40% move speed? That’s insanely fast.
