"And how are they going to prevent that better players will start new accounts to go into noob lobbies to slay out?"
They will not, but it will at least reduce the stomping. Since the veteran play will skyrocket through the ranks.
And while i don't think a ladder clearly splitting players in various ranks is bad. Stopping streamers that play 12 hours a day being matched against noobs lvl 1, like happened in that pathetic "rivals" event, would be a great start.
I would consider myself above average, but i have friends that are just starting to play on PC and seeing them get stomped by players with rank 60 with over 1k of kills isn't fun. They complain and they have the right to complain. Because at this point they aren't even playing the game, they are just moving targets so other people look good.
That story of "how they will learn then?" is said by people that either don't know * about the game and want easy kills or people that doesn't understand skill progression.
You learn something from people that are slightly above you. Not from people are so high that you don't even understand what they are doing or talking about.
In a more real world situation; saying they will learn something from getting stomped by these players is the same as giving a trigonometric exercise to a kid that just learned addition and expect the kid to learn something from it. That's not going to happen.
PS: it's the third time that i'm posting this and the forum isn't showing my message. If for some reason i got triple post; you know why.

I don't want ranked. Ranked playlists ALWAYS bring a higher level of toxicity to gaming communities.

@ThatFawkzi then don't play ranked?

That boils down to how respawn handles ranked.

I just fir sure want to say again I do not want ranked play. At the very least, make it some other game mode option.
This is a team game. Sometimes I’ll get rolled by a great player or team, sometimes I end up on a team with great players and ride it. No matter who you are, if you are at least tying and making pings/callouts, you are worth your weight.
Honestly its it’s the best way to learn. Don’t feed endless streamers, play the game and learn.
I get people don’t like being thrashed every once in a while, but if you are trying your best and learn, getting a thick hide, and going in hard as you can is the best way to do it.

I'm 41, have an adult job and just don't have anywhere near the reflexes I used to have when I was a young gamer. I totally get the argument that not everyone would want to be lumped into a rusty old player server but giving people like me the choice is the right way to keep a section of your player base. I hit level 13 today and have 5 kills to my name. Love the game but you can only take so many kicks to the face before you roll over and die.
- 7 years agoStreamers are gonna have a great time playing only against super sweats every day... 🤔
The best streamer content imo is the funny moments when they find some big noobs.
And I mean seriously how many players are at level 60 with 1k kills? The majority is always going to be the casual gamers. I’ve only played the game for about 2-3 days and already got a few wins. And the times that I got wrecked by some crazy good player are few (usually I just make bad desicions) and is it just me who think it’s kinda exciting to face these god players. Everyone always has a chance. And if you actually manage to win that fight - what a great feeling.
It’s just a game.- 7 years ago
that's why i'm saying it should have a split but not a ladder.
players lvl 1 should be pitted against player lvl 30 at best. He will still get stomped by someone better than him but he will think "well i should have done X instead of Y".
Now when a lvl 1 gets wingmanned while sprinting by someone 100 meters away. what he will learn? He literally don't know what hit him. There's nothing to learn there.
I'm okay facing people like Dizzy, i killed him once and i'm Fing proud of it, that Fing basterd, but when he is bashing lvl 1 players. That's just straight unfair and shouldn't happen.(I'm level 51 by the way)- 6 years ago
I wouldn't be proud of beating someone who only plays broken wraith with her tiny hit box with a broken wingman. Hes good at the game he should be like shroud and refuse to use the wingman.

@h5mf0vcnd32w So you have no counter arguments, just "streamers need content from stomping noobs". Also, having matchmaking will make the game more challenging, fairer and more exciting. "Casual" streamers will be playing against casuals as well. So you're confirming having matchmaking is better.
- 7 years agoWho are these “casual streamers”? If you play and stream the game every day you will probably not be so casual for long.
I thought I was arguing but maybe I wasn’t...

The matchmaking is bad
- 7 years agoI just hate 90% of the randoms I get.

Did I miss it?
Was there any feedback from Respawn on that topic?Anyone knows of any plans (or lack of it)?

All we want is an answer if they will bring it into Apex, and of course they can't tell us anything.

We've been watching this post and making sure Respawn is aware of your feedback. We unfortunately do not have anything to share right now on any plans or implementation of a skill-based matchmaking system. As a competitive gamer myself, I definitely see a lot of valid arguments for it in here. Respawn recently had another check-in yesterday which I'll link below. They're very committed to addressing some specific issues surrounding the game right now like crashes and stability. When we find out more information on upcoming content or game design plans we'll ping it to you ASAP.
Keep the suggestions coming and good luck in the ring!

I’ve been playing this game when I have free time and I like the challenge of facing top players. I got my first kill after two weeks of playing this game in the evenings. And last night I got 7 kills and won the match with randoms.
My advice practice in the tutorial shooting range. And musel memory will provely. Plus I would watch who ever killed me and study their methods and how they played to better myself.
Zero kills for two weeks to 7 kills and a win. If I can do it you can to.

Improve the matchmaking please, it's garbage, it's non-existent, it's lazy... improve it please.

Improved Matchmaking

@helloabwatson I won my first ever match on Apex Legends. I also win a couple of games every day and I only play a couple of hours a day (side note: seriously, people with, say, 3k kills on a single legend, get a job and contribute to society) and you don't see me giving tips around plus practicing in shooting range can only do so much and watching sweaty streamers with 100% aimbot-like accuracy won't really make you improve. I have been playing FPS games since early 2000 and that's how I became, with time, a decent FPS player. That doesn't change that I will indeed be instantly dropped by smelly nolifers that are at a skill lvl I will never be unless I were to quit my university degree and my job and play 24/7 (and become a useless human being).
You CANNOT improve from being instantly vaporized without having a chance to react. Also, once you learned basic FPS strategies, straffing or flanking maneuvers, you cannot improve much just from watching say Dizzy or Shroud play. Having a good skill-based matchmaking where players in a server have a relatively close skill-lvl is what would actually help you improve. If you fight against people similar to you, you WILL improve much more while the experience will be MUCH less frustrating. Finally, the BS that is currently Apex Twitch Rivals will become finally maybe interesting to watch instead of being farmville where streamers simply farm casuals (with a life and responsabilities). Right now Twitch Rivals is like watching a tournament for League of Legends with pros farming kills in smurf accounts instead of fighting each others. It's just stupid and boring.- 6 years ago
TOTALLY AGREE, the game desperately needs ranked/skill grouped matchmaking, and a true training mode on the King's Canyon map to practice different legends and different weapons.
- 6 years agoIn regards to matchmaking.
Making a matchmaking system based in K/D, wins, top 3 placings, survival time would be wrong.
If you want to make matchmaking system based on skill you should factor in Accuracy, as this is the primary factor that separates good and bad players.
Imagine you have a pool of 600 players divided into 10 skill levels of 60 players each.
Take the low 60 players and put them into a game. And you will still end up with a winner, 3 x top 3’s. A bunch of long survivors and at least 57 death. That means that the top fragger could have 5-8 kills, but that does not make him a high skilled player. He just won that game among his fellow low level players.
If you went into details of his play you would probably notice that he missed 4/5 bullets fired. Maybe 3 or 4 of the kills were “finishers” where his team gave most of the damage.- 6 years ago

Accuracy like any other stat can be padded and meaningless. For example, how many shots fired would need to be accounted for.
And you can have the best accuracy in the world but be a terrible BR Bot. All aim no brains. I don't want a guy with good accuracy on my team that has no teamplay and no wins.

Unless it's like rainbow six siege then it's a bad idea ...
The skill gap in this game isn't big enough that it's only fair with ranked ... the idea of the badges requires luck and mixed lobbies ... if each team I face is as good as me then there is no way I'm getting 20 kills ... this is only for top players and real beginners ... people in the middle will be crushed ...
Unless it's like rainbow six siege it's gonna suck ..
We need casual lobbies and ranked ones with ranking system similar to R6S and you can get current badges in both modes but for sure there has to be special badges you only get from ranked - 6 years agoAs well as improved matchmaking I'd like to see better team filling so the champion always ends up with the smallest team I've been in games where they have been 2 or 3 teams that are only two players I've also plaid in games where they have been two teams cooperating with each other this needs defining as cheating and all players involved get banned as you knock one or two members of One team their second team then comes in and solely targets your team allowing the last member of team 1 to get the races

Have you guys not felt that respawn has already added some basic match maker based off level and wins or something? I sure have. Opponents have gotten way harder and there is tons of new accounts who seem to be abusing the system. Also the the mostseason 1 wins I see now is people who have around 20 wins like me. No more I do see guys with 1000s of kills or 100s of wins.
At first I just thought they were alts who were previously banned. Started after battlepass and getting worse after every update. But Now I just think they are smurfing to stay low rated.

The way it works in apex though doesn’t give you a better player experience the only way to do well now is to play with two friends at the same skill level if you play with two friends that are worse than you you still get screwed playing with one or two random people get screwed. And i do not have any friends at the same skill level as me also if at once i was able to compete at a certain skill level doesnt mean i can play at that same skill level it i havent played the game in weeks it takes a couple days to get back into it with apex and getting killed instantly off spawn every game doesnt allow you to get back to that level sbmm needs to account for time you havent played the game and if you’re queuing with random people you shouldnt be playing against a premade team of 3 tryhards

I really realy like SBMM !
From my point of view they can replace ranked play with SBMM, because it calculates the level more accurate!
In ranked you get points for nothing, even if u just did 3 damage but killed an enemy you can level up.
At some point ranked just looses his attraction because you are stuck on a too high level.
SBMM on the other hand always brings you into the right match with even squadmembers and enemies.
I think real "hardcore" players are not looking for easy targets!
They want to have a challenging and exciting matches against equal oponents and with equal teammates.
SBMM can deliver this the same way as ranked does.
Low players are kept together by SBMM and encourages them to play on.
At the moment SBMM has problems pairing the avarage to advanced skilled players.
They seem to get too difficult matches.
I guess the waiting times for high skilled players increased to much.
They had to mix high skilled and advanced skilled players.
I am sure they will improve SBMM in the next months...
- 5 years ago@TrueDivinorium and if there is a way, in which only those who are alone in the lobby can enter, so everyone in the match will be people who do not know each other, it’s fair, no one will face a closed squad of pro players who play together every day.
