Small Alternator Buff?

I love the Alternator and I would love to see it have more use again. So perhaps just an increase in rate of fire would be nice? just ramp it up from 640 RPM to around 700-750 RPM? it makes it do relatively similar(though still less) damage per second as the R99, and I think we can all agree that the disruptor rounds made the gun something that the devs didn't want it to be, and if you increase it's damage, it becomes  pretty close to a Flatline with a better strafe speed. In my mind, it makes the most sense to just make it fire a little faster, seeing as it is a sub-machine gun, it shouldn't do the same damage as an assault rifle.

  • let me clarify, it shouldn't do the same damage per bullet as an assault rifle that supposedly "packs a punch"

  • @Condor442 I agree alternator could use alittle buff, Re-45 though is pretty decent ive been using that way more than alternators and killing everyone lol
  • @Condor442 It would be good to have a buff, but I think it would still have to remain low-ish tier, as the devs want to have a bit of progression with the weapons.
  • @Sir_Named I could see why they might want to have a progression of weapons, but the fact of the game is that by the final rings, everyone is using the same stuff. I would much prefer that every gun in the game was equally as strong, but just had different types of advantage, as well as other drawbacks. the Havoc is a perfect example. it's really good damage is awesome during a fight, but the time it takes to start firing is a good drawback for it. plus the ammo type is a little scarce. heavy weapons should all fire slower but be more powerful, energy weapons should have a little more setup or sight issues, snipers should not be as effective as they are at close ranges, and light weapons should just do really quick but hard to aim damage. know what I mean?
  • @Condor442 I get it.
Although the heavy ammo guns do kind of do that, if you compare them to light ammo counterparts.
Light weapons I think are supposed to be like that, but I guess everyone is just better at aiming?
Energy weapons, not really sure what issues you exactly mean, but they all do kind of have them. (Except L-Star, I guess.) The havoc and the devotion had the charge up time, the charge rifle had the, well, charge, and the triple take basically requires the choke.
Every gun being somewhat equally viable would be great, but I guess the tradition for battle royals is that they aren’t. Not exactly sure why this is, but it is, and the devs seem to want to keep it that way. *shrug*
  • I really don‘t think the alternator needs a buff at all. It‘s a decent mp which is quite a beast if you go for the head. Due to the ‚low‘ rate of fire it‘s relatively easy to aim for the head whilst shooting.

But yeah, it‘s still not the gun to go with in the later game. You can change the weapons as much as you want, you will never have everything perfectly balanced, at least without multiple weapons feeling exactly the same. There will always be weapons being slightly better than others, but I think it‘s great that we actually do have lots of decent weapons which are pretty much equivalent to each other.

I prefer Flatline/Scout, my mates play r99/triple take and r301/sentinel. You can also use the peacekeeper, wingman, p90, havok, devotion, kraber, l-star.... all decent guns. I think we got a great diversity in guns and there are far bigger problems than the alternator being not one of them, even though it‘s not a bad gun at all.
