Spitfire is not op, you're just toxic

Spitfire is fine. There are many other much more important things to fix in this game. The spitfire was popular and that's the only reason people hate it. Every season the streamers pick a new gun to claim is imbalanced and every season they are wrong. Form your own opinions. If you're being shot at, put some cover in front of you. This game is not that hard and some of you act like if you're not constantly stomping then it's unfair somehow. There are many imbalances in this game but it is not an issue with guns. The bow needed fixing because it is silent and worked better than actual snipers. It's still does more damage and travels faster than the longbow which is likely firing a huge bullet. (Before nerf it was a super sentinel. Why use the sentinel when the bow makes it obsolete? THAT is the essence of gun balance. Every gun needs a place in the sandbox or it is useless and must not make other guns obsolete or it is imbalanced.) There are no other guns that the spitfire makes obsolete. The flatline would be the closest but even then, better movement, better non ADS spread, still 16 damage, reloads faster, better in close combat.

The R99 can fire 10 shots at around 12 dmg each in the time it takes the spitfire to fire 3 or 4 shots. Not only that but your strafe speed is slower with the spitfire. More time firing does not make it deadlier. R99 reloads quickly while the spitfire reloads very slowly. Every weapon has a pro and a con and works best in different situations. Spitfire was never overpowered, you're just salty that it's being used more and you can't rush in by yourself like you used to. This is a TEAM game, not a tryhard sweaty "look at me" game. If anything, people who rush in and the people complaining about it are the people who caused it's popularity to rise as people found that it cancels sweaty playing. Play smarter. That's the counter. Instant gratification is not a mistress worth chasing.

Quit complaining about stuff simply because it's popular to complain about them. You're losing because YOU are bad/out of position/overextending. Not because a gun can shoot.

Also do not conflate normal gameplay with aimbots. If you're being lasered down by a spitfire, it's not that the gun is broken, it's more likely the enemy is cheating. Report them appropriately. Too many people seem to be under the impression that cheating doesn't happen.

  • @PraetorOfOlea Well, I have already proposed my own suggestion for a Caustic improvement in case you're interested: Caustic thread

And as for your question on how to fix the weapon efficiently without making it useless... Well, you don't. Not directly at least. Instead, we should focus on what causes me to NOT use other weapons more often.

Maybe this just applies to me and my friends, but many weapons in Apex Legends often feel inconsistent, unforgiving and unfair. Aside from different (and more powerful) recoil, factors like bullet speed, recoil patterns, bullet-drop and hipfire (in)accuracy make using weapons like the Flatline, R-99, Devotion, Havoc and Volt SMG somewhat tedious to use. R-301 is among one of the weapons I consider somewhat normal. And Spitfire is consistent, the recoil isn't annoying, it's forgiving and very versatile in many situations. I can sometimes hit multiple shots with a spitfire on distances over 100 meters which usually only succeeds on the first shot with other weapons.

I would rather consider making weapons more consistent between each other. Of course weapons like the flatline and R-99 should stay more difficult to use. But I do think it would be a fair game if weapons like Alternator, RE-45, Havoc, Volt SMG, R-301 and even the 30-30 Repeater would take the place of easier to use and more consistent weapons for the less skilled audience. I mean really, what's the deal with the RE-45? So low damage, yet the recoil is worse than the R-301. And Spitfire is still for me the most accurate to use out of all the weapons. Well, aside from snipers.

My suggestion: Leave Spitfire as it is, and adjust the weapons to be more consistent. I don't want to study a weapon's recoil pattern so I can use it efficiently. I also don't want to use knowledge like bullet drop and bullet speed to be more precise with weapons. Spitfire I can handle just fine. No shady recoil, decent on mid ranges, good on close quarters, overall forgiving. The rest? Not so much.

Yes, a little rant on my side, but I'm not the only one who thinks that. I have a whole group of friends who say the same.

@Peri_Longbow_plz I liked your rant and you have good ideas. I agree that other weapons need to be more consistant. Somehow I’m actually better with the alternator than the R301. I’m even better with the RE45 than the havoc. Consistency across the sandbox is needed. Thank you for your comments.
  • @PraetorOfOlea You telling me that a fully automatic gun that does 19...oh wait I forgot respawn nerfed a gun with a 50 bullet mag by 1 damage like it was gonna make a difference...but you're saying that there is nothing wrong with the gun??

@codeleaf00 Not damage reduction rate of fire reduction. Thats basically it to help balance it. It truly isn't that great of a gun. Maybe even a slight hip fire accuracy nerf. But again, any other gun will simply overpower the player using it. I've been on both ends.
  • @713895 Correct there is nothing wrong with it. Its your play style that needs work. You seem to think you can simply walk right up to someone using the spitfire and kill them. Play smarter. Its easily overpowered with a havoc, R301, Flatline, even CAR or R99 will win. Play smarter.

Hard agree @SolitaryMassacre. Gonna repeat this post about the Spitfire.

Spitfire has the second LOWST dps in the game as far as automatic/burst rifles go.

Enough is enough. Spitfire is a CRAP gun that needs something to make it actually useful. It's barely better than the friggin' alternator. So please, stop the petty whining people.
