Still no enemy footsteps

I play on PS4 but can't afford to upgrade to a PS4 Pro it's bad enough that we get half the frame rate but it seems there's a bug the audio settings as well as I have never heard enemy footsteps even when they're in the same room as you and are not shooting yet this is even after they allegedly fixed it in the last patch I know it's not my sound system as I have a soundbar that is capable of producing cinema quality surround sound with Dolby Atmos so it's either the PS4 or the game audio itself that isn't working properly

  • The problem is that other sounds in the game are louder than footsteps like gun shots and eveb healing sound when you use syrenge or shield batery its just to loud..

Gunshots should be louder than footsteps and healing should slightly muffle sound since it is supposed to put you in a disadvantageous state until it's completed. The problem for me is that whole teams are running or walking up on me now, and I can't hear it because of the muffled quality of the audio since the latest patch. The audio was better before the "fix" IMO. I wish Respawn had just targeted the infinite gunfire audio glitch and sound glitching in high pop areas (like skulltown) instead of making a sweeping change to the audio for the entire game.

It might not be much of a consolation, but Respawn have said that they are continuing to monitor and address audio issues:

    "AUDIO FIXES AND IMPROVEMENTS

One of our biggest issues to tackle was improving the audio performance to address issues reported of sounds dropping out, sounds missing for extended time, or distortion for a period of time. We have made improvements both in our code and with our content that will hopefully fix these issues for many players, and for others, at least lower the amount and length of time they encounter audio issues.

We have also addressed some of the other mix issues with the game, including increasing the volume of close proximity enemy footsteps and lowering the overall volume of the game from the character select screen to the end of the drop sequence. We will continue to monitor mix issues and address them as necessary. Below are the notes of improvements we’ve included in today’s patch and we’re continuing to work on future improvements.

    PERFORMANCE

    • Improved audio engine to be around 30% more CPU efficient, lessening the chance of distortion or dropouts.

    • Lowered impact on data loading through code and content changes to improve potential dropout issues."

    Source.

I've played a lot on ps4 pro as well as the slim. And I can tell you the frame rate and footsteps audio are equally garbage on both systems. Additionally, since the last patch I have not noticed any improvement or change to the audio on either system.
