There's no doubt about it that Caustic is breaking the meta. His tactical does way to much damage, slows you down and blurs your vision making it hard to fight in the gas. He kinda feels like a better Bangalore right now. I think Respawn should nerf him in season 6. My idea to nerf him is to change gas.I think the gas should actually work like real poison gas. The gas is very see through and doesn't do much to you, but the more time you spend in the gas the worse it gets. It starts off being a 1 damage every 1.50 seconds then after staying in the gas for a while you start to slow down, your vision gets blurry and does more and more damage until the gas is feels like the same gas we have now. This way you don't feel like its pointless to rush a fight in a gas bomb. This could also stop Caustics from just reviving consistently mid-fire fight.

And that’s the problem with Caustic, it is to easy to kill someone with his gas. It does way to much damage.

Caustic misses every point of logic at this point.Increasing damage the longer you stay inside? Yes, that makes sense.You have lowered vision? Only applies to acidic or basic.You are instantly slowed down? Makes no sense at all.Knowing from actual experience, most kinds of Gas take a long time before it has any kind of crippling effects on your body, with the only exception being mustard gas, but even that takes roughly 30 seconds before the actual first crippling effects set in, but at this point you've taken a deadly dose anyway. That last point was not own experience, but rather asking my old chemistry teacher.That's the whole problem. The instant slowdown is what makes Caustic incredibly annoying on the field. I don't even care about the damage, but then again, caustic gas should actually increase in severity over some duration, rather than setting in the worst effects right away, with the less relevant part actually increasing. Never died to caustic gas before, only the people who shot me as I was inside it.I agree with one thing here at the very least: The whole change among Caustic made him a better Bangalore. Team mates can see through his gas, it pretty much prevents people from coming near you, you can shut off buildings entirely most of the time...Inb4 someone brings up a completely irrelevant tier list where caustic is somewhere on the bottom or something.

Hell even in a speculative fiction hardcore shootee like Siege, you'll be getting nowhere.Wanna talk realism? Lets see s list of nerfs i can come up with:Octanes tactical overdoses and kills him.The entire Apex community has a limited amount of Revenants, after they get killed, he is unusable and gets deleted from the game.Pathfinders hook cannot grapple flat walls, and anything to solid for a hook to safely grab into, like metal.Lifelines shield doesn't do anything, Gibbys too. They also get removed as energy isn't a thing but a property of things.Cryptos EMP now disables Octanes legs, kills all Pathfinders and permanently deactivates all abilities of all Legends.Also all headshots are instakills and Revenant becomes nearly unkillable and indestructible with most bullets.But all that besides. Caustic is not s "better Bangalore" his traps are easily shot down by hitting it anywhere with anything. The gas also requires atleast 10s to kill, often more and can be often outhealed. If you die from it, its because you put yourselves in situations where thats possible. He cannot do tha in the open, fight him there. If thats not possible use grenades and get him into the open. Its not hard.

If you want, I can argument with a pure game-dev point of view as well if that's what you preferably want to see, won't change the outcome though. So here we go.First of all, let's take a moment to break down the "Fighting Caustic outside of buildings" argument. Nice idea, but you seem to forget that the combat outside equalizes the chances merely. A Caustic outside has as much value as a Pathfinder, a Wraith or a Bangalore. All 3 may have more mobility and their abilities are more focused around getting out of combat and/or moving faster, in the end faster movement is hardly an advantage if you * your own aiming with that. Put 2 people with equal skill in 2 different characters, and you will rarely see someone truly dominating in an open field, reason for that being is that if you can't hit a fast character, chances are he can't hit you either. If he does, he has a higher skill value and would have killed you nonetheless. So this whole argument about "Fighting caustic outside" in the end just means "His ability doesn't really have a use there". Which I never disagreed with.Due to Caustic being more centered around combat indoors, you will find caustics mostly there. Whenever I had a caustic in my team, nine out of ten times we sat in buildings till the ring moved, and rarely engaged in outside combat, and dominated outside combat. Which in turn has brought me among the top 5 more often than not. Take it as you want, believe it or not, in the end it's the truth and my own personal experience with him.I already noted the logic flaw. Sure, I can take away the logic aspect and say again: Why does only the damage ramp up? Why do the other two aspects have to be instant? The immediate slowdown and the sudden blindness is what kills, because you are exposed to enemy fire, and thanks to your lack of both vision and movement speed, what other counter do you have? You can test it yourself, see how long you stay alive staying scoped and moving left and right, and then see how long you stay alive frantically moving around with hip fire. You will quickly find out that your scoped form will be shot down easily. It's about movement speed in Apex Legends. A stationary target is a dead target, as the saying goes.Sure you may now go ahead and say that you can use grenades. Generally a beautiful idea, and I often carry 3 - 5 Grenades with me, usually arc stars. Except it doesn't really help if the trap is triggered already, plus buildings are usually large enough that the grenade can sit on a corner, and you can avoid it. It's not hard to avoid grenades, and thanks to them taking their sweet time to explode, your enemy has nice preparation time to move from one corner to another. Trust me, I threw plenty of grenades into a caustic infested building. Most of them didn't hit anything. And no, this is not lack of skill, so please refrain from using that cheap argument now.I learned to check buildings before I enter them, obviously. Yet you still often enable a trap and have to wait for ages till it goes away. and often you will find yourself getting assaulted because setting off a trap also notifies the deployer. Because yeah, why not give the tactical even more uses. Might as well reveal people permanently because the nox is now in their system. Little sarcastic joke on the side.I fought plenty of caustics on small space before. Q is used fast, and in the most cases blocks off any exit path, meaning you have to stick in the fight. Knowing from several past experiences in the game, charging an enemy who is aware of your presence and has their sights aimed on you is usually a terrible idea.Again, idea here is:Slowdown, vision fade and Damage over time should all 3 increase in severity over time. At the beginning, 10% slowdown, light vision blur and 5 damage. After 5 seconds, a 75% slowdown, strong blur and 10 damage per second should be applied.It's that simple.

@BBY_YOD4 Don't fight him at close range and don't run up to him blindly. There is 90% of your problems solved. He can't gas you whwn you are mid range.

@BigBlackCaustic It feels like you have never 1v1 a Caustic. I’ve 1v1 that legend 100s of times and I can straight up tell you his gas is unfair. The blurry vision and slowed walking speed is super unfair. For example, I got into a fight with a Caustic and since he put is gas out and I couldn’t see him but he see me and he lazered me like how is that fair. If it is a close range battle and if one player can’t see the other that’s definitely unfair. The only counter I found is to chuck some frags and arc stars but since the caustic can see them he can just walk out the other way. I find it way to unfair. I hate caustic he is a unfair legend. I also know that a lot of things in this game are unrealistic, but the nerf needs to happen and you know just as well as I do.

@BBY_YOD4 Every legend in the game has abilities that can make a situation unfair. However there are situations where Caustic can be unbalanced. Honestly I can only think of two.
#1. It's the final ring and you have no choice but to rush inside the gas.
#2. 1v1 against Caustic with both teammates down for both sides. Either push him through the gas or back off and let him revive.
I cant think of any other problematic situation with Caustic.

Well, finally my post was posted, though probably no one has read it yet.
Digital Threat is a good idea, sadly you don't always get your hands on one. Hence why it's a legendary. It's a huge benefit. Sadly an unfair one at that.

@BigBlackCaustic So you are saying if you see a caustic don’t him at all. Long won’t work either because he uses his gas so you can’t see him but he can see you. I think that’s dumb. Every legend should be able to fight every other legend, so your argument just makes your statement worse.

@BBY_YOD4 Long range doesn't work against Caustic due to how quickly Caustic players will retreat to buildings when shot but he can't see THROUGH the gas like it says. He can only see targets immersed in the gas so he has no advantage fighting through the gas at long range. He is only dangerous at close range if his opponents CHOOSE to go through the gas or foolishly rush him.
There really is no excuse dying to a Caustic outside of the two situations I've mentioned above. He's only a threat to dangerously aggressive teams since he needs you to engage him to be a threat. Is his ability to block a push too strong? Maybe. His ability to attack is pretty weak though so dying to him is typically the fault of the player.

@heme725 Caustic is able to put gas traps down mid fire fight so using the argument to be cautious will not work, unless your just not to fight caustic. Not to mention caustic can stand near the edge of the gas area. In that area he is able to snipe you well you can’t seee him.
