When we receive reports of inappropriate chat, we look at each individual report to see if what was said is a violation.
You're absolutely correct that language like that isn't something you should have to put up with, but the best way to fight back would be with a report instead of replying with similar language.
Using similarly inappropriate language would only open yourself up to be reported, so I'd definitely encourage a report and mute of their account afterwards in this type of situation.
If you reported the other players you mentioned, we'll absolutely review those accounts and take the appropriate action.

If you don't have time or weren't able to report during the game for whatever reason, you can absolutely send in a report later through this form.
While any actions are based on our own records, that can also be used to attach screenshots or further elaboration to the report if you have additional info.
