@voltageblue8 registered 5 hours ago, makes points about logic.... here is a logic you are wasting your time trying to troll this IT WILL NOT HAPPEN
F2p is an illusion here, players support f2p in any way they can they have built entire companies that gave VALUE to their customers and their money.
Placing skins in any game behind a paywall this high is provocation, every gamer wants to support/own stuff in game he likes and this is just disgusting abuse of that
"Registered 5 hours ago, makes points about logic...."
What does anything about what I said have to do with how long ago I registered. Your point here is mute.
"Here is a logic you are wasting your time trying to troll this IT WILL NOT HAPPEN
F2p is an illusion here"
This is a ftp shooter with no way to pay your way to any advantage except looking different than someone else. So youre obviously delusional. Your point here is mute.
"players support f2p in any way they can they have built entire companies that gave VALUE to their customers and their money"
EA is already an established company and does not need your funds to keep running. You did not help build this game in any way you merely spent money on cosmetics. Your point here is mute.
You're never going to get exactly what you want in life, you learn that at a early age in school. Move along now.
- 6 years ago@voltageblue8 You make some good points however I feel as though what myself and many others here are questioning isn't necessarily the actual cost of the recent event content but rather the reasoning behind said cost. Even after the dev's responses no clear answer was given. People are more than welcome to buy the content, sure. But at least prove to the consumer the prices are worth what you pay for.
Now I know after reading your previous comment that you criticise this very thread's existence, but when I created it I only meant for it to be a place where people can discuss in a respectable manner how they feel about being "expected" to pay the prices we've been presented with by Respawn.
To discuss whether or not this is really the devs being greedy at the coercion of EA or if it really is value for money.
You have to admit, around $200 is questionable in of itself. Especially when the majority of the cosmetics are barely seen by the player outside of the game's menu.
As you rightly say though, there are a lot of silly people crying and complaining over what is going on but the devs are never gonna react in a positive way to a thread of vulgar language, verbal abuse and death threats.
(Clearly evident at this point.)
However, not long after making this very thread I began encouraging players to criticise things in a more respectable manner and I got a response from EA stating that they appreciate the modicum of civility here as, and quote, "That tone really helps to get your point across, and helps the tone of the forum overall.
So I respect where you're coming from with the points you've raised but I do feel there is good reason to at least question where this game is going. Or a the very least help people be more aware of possible shady business practises that may be going on.
Glad to hear I'm not the only one still enjoying the game too. *thumbs up* - 6 years ago
@dtOddity92Thank you for the reply. Glad to hear you're still enjoying the game as well.
I'm not going to speculate to much more on this topic considering I made my points already.
One last thing I would like to say though. Sorry in advance if this offends anyone.
If you spent 200 dollars on cosmetics skins that you can not even view in-game because this is a first person shooter, you're not very smart. No player in their right mind would spend that kind of money on a skin that they can't even see while playing.Gamers that play an fps for the competitive nature and just generally getting better at the game (probably 95% of the game) will keep this game flourishing and giving tons of gamers competitive gameplay for years to come.
Gamers that are worried more about how they look (probably 5% of the game) will either move back to fortnite or get into some mmorpg.
- 6 years ago@voltageblue8 I understand not wanting to speculate further on the subject. In all fairness there isn't really much more any of us can say on the matter that hasn't already been said. With developers responding as they have, any speculation now moves to whether or not they keep their new promises, despite having broken them before.
As for offending people, I wouldn't worry so much about that.
It's bound to happen given how everyone is entitled to their own opinions on matters like this. Overall the whole point of this thread, besides encouraging people to be more conscious of the decisions they make, is to acknowledge that.
Though nothing good can come from merely arguing over whether or not people are dumb when spending their money on something they have every right to.
So the key take away from all of the controversy should be this...
We're a community of thousands of players and unless the thousands of thoughts and feelings we have on subjects like this are conveyed in the correct way or at least a respectable manner, nothing will change for the better.
That is something I feel needs to be greatly encouraged.
In this forum alone for example every single post gets reviewed by someone at EA. It may not be the higher-ups who make all the executive decisions, but it's someone. If that someone thinks our words are worthwhile and may be of actual benefit then it gets passed along the chain to those who consider it to be valuable feedback. So it's better for us as players and them as developers when they don't have to wade through the ocean of insults and trolling when trying to find out what the community really wants.
People sorely don't realise that and that's what needs to change. - 6 years ago
@voltageblue8 i am starting to loose my mind how much are you neglecting the actual state of the game and why the whole fuss is about .... Let me elaborate, you just stated that person that pays for what Respawn has placed in their two week event is not very smart and Respawn is complaining that they need money. From this point onwards either they gonna reduce the prices and get players interested or Apex Legends will not exist. They do not make this for the RED CROSS purposes they make it so they make money.
How do you think they gonna earn salaries out of your competitive nature ?? What am i missing here ??
If they do not make a compromise that players will accept to pay we wont have a game. And i LOVE this game.
Are you suggesting we all stop spending any money completely and go pro with our skills ???

"Are you suggesting we all stop spending any money completely and go pro with our skills ???"
This comment makes no sense as you can not go pro in this game by spending money, you must do so with your skills.
There are plenty of users that will buy the battle pass every single season, even the ones who complain all the time, so they won't really lose much revenue. The 20 people that said they will stop spending money on this forum will not effect game revenue.
This isn't some small no name company, where if they don't get a certain amount of money that there will no longer be a game. I mean come on, you have to at least know that.
I'm not ignoring any issues with the game because I have none. I load apex legends, get a solo match immediately, do fairly well for my skills at a fps and have a blast playing every, single, time. I'm not mad because cosmetics don't make or break a game for me, and I don't spend money to look different, especially 200 dollars for something that isn't even guaranteed.
Your wants and needs from this game aren't being met, they are being met just fine for me as a gamer, this is why we disagree. The only posts I see you in on these forums is ones that are directly attacking the state of this game or it's owners. I don't see any game advice , problem solving solutions, or you posting anywhere else to help this game. You make posts in hopes to get someone to jump on your bandwagon of endless criticism without helping the game in any sense. Its users like you that bring these games down.
Best of luck sarrgeras. - 6 years ago
@voltageblue8 i understand completely now why you and I do not understand each other and i thank god it is so .... start the game and keep playing and allow the ones that are providing that for you to find a solution and middle ground in this problem. It is amazing that by reading your posts i understand why the developers responded in a manner they did I am starting to feel sorry for them

@voltageblue8 of course players who initially bought IC skins are entitled to a refund?!
The deal was «do you like these skins? If so, this is the only way you’ll get them. Only available for a limited time. ...btw, you might have to buy 20 packs before you get the item you want»
Next you know the items are in the public store.
This is deceitful marketing any way you look at it.
Most people just wanting that one or two skins would not have gambled if they could just pick it up from the shop.
Still waiting for my refund together with a handwritten letter of apology 🙂

While I am supremely peeved that they went ahead and threw the legendaries into the store at $20 a pop (that's really how much you need to buy one), I'm not at all disappointed with what I received from the free packs and the handful of packs I chose to buy. Still, I find this whole event to be completely predatory and a slap in the face to the community after only six months of life.
