The Need to Reevaluate the Balance of the Legend Sparrow

For several months now, Sparrow has remained one of the most mobile legends in one versus one fights. His passive jump ability has received no nerfs, and I have not seen any mention of adjustments in official Apex updates. In the Wild Card and Mixtape modes Sparrow consistently appears among the most picked legends. The main reason for this is his extremely strong stationary mobility.

The issue is that with average or even below average shooting skills Sparrow becomes almost impossible to outplay. The legend can perform a jump every 2.5 seconds. This creates a clear imbalance. Many duels in Apex are decided by fractions of a second. The constant ability to reposition instantly and land behind the opponent gives Sparrow a significant advantage.

Sparrow also has an additional passive wall jump. Because of this players with lower mechanical skill often have almost no opportunity to outplay Sparrow in a fair one versus one scenario.

Sparrow jumps, the cooldown starts, and while he is still in the air the cooldown already finishes. As soon as he lands he is able to jump again. This results in endless mobility that does not feel balanced.

I am not suggesting increasing the jump cooldown to the level of Ash where her ability has a cooldown of 12 seconds. Ash has a horizontal movement skill that is more tactically valuable than Sparrow’s vertical jump. However the cooldown on Sparrow’s jump should be increased to at least 4 or 5 seconds. This would keep the legend mobile while restoring fairness in direct duels. This must also include his additional wall jump.

In the current state Sparrow disrupts balance by having the constant ability to jump and reposition in close fights. A moderate increase in cooldown would bring more fairness and predictability without taking away the unique playstyle of this legend
