Sure you dont need pathfinder to succeed, the legend just has one of the highest pick/kill/win rates, but people arent picking pathfinder in 1/5 of the games just because it increases win rate.
This "exchange" of arguments has only pushed me deeper into the rabbit hole, the numbers clearly show that pathfinder is a mandatory pick.
Well, you certainly see a lot of Pathfinders every match. His tactical is very strong, no matter what the environment is.

What I am feeling when picking a spot to land as jump master is --- apathy. I usually pass jump master to the next person, and we land in 1 of 2 spots.
All of the outer edge zones like Dome, The Tree, etc., are not really attractive options. You feel so far away from everything, including the shrinking ring. Your team lands alone, loots some stuff, then spends the next 10 minutes running towards the meeting place, where suddenly you face 3 squads and get Charge Rifled. Ha.
King's Canyon never felt like you were landing in no-man's land. Artillery, Water Treatment, Thunderdome - all those had great things to play in right there. Some of the new areas just have these little space modular habitats and either sulfur springs or lava.
Also think there are too many open, empty areas.
