At the start, I'm talking about "season 0" and season 1, the matchmaking was perfect. Everyone was still getting used to the game and it wasn't unbalanced. As the seasons went by, the "skill" gap got larger and larger. This is to be expected.
However, matchmaking is just shoving everyone into a match using a "engagement optimized matchmaking", or EOMM. This form of matchmaking aims to keep us engaged by basically rigging the game. Each loss makes you wanna "do better", and when you win, you may feel like you want to keep playing. Some players choose to stop playing after a win, so that they can end the gaming session on a high note. Yet, those who keep playing are just badly curb stomped by the matchmaking as it tries to make the player do better again.
This kind of matchmaking only annoys players and drives them away from the game.
You may also be wondering "how is it rigged?" The answer is simple.... how else are your teammates a bunch of new or no skilled players, while the enemy teams are in diamonds, masters, and pred rankings? That's right, because its rigged in an attempts to get you killed off sooner, in which you'd feel like you need to keep playing because you just can't turn off the game after that one match. As humans, we feel the need to try, try, and try again. This is what EOMM latches onto and abuses to try and keep us playing. Another result of this is that it just causes players to become more and more toxic, as the game annoys them more and more. Usually after 7 or so bad matches, I get slightly better teammates and maybe even a win.
From my observation, matchmaking operates like this:
bad teammates/high skilled enemies -> loss -> bad teammates/medium skilled enemies -> loss -> medium teammates/medium skilled enemies -> loss -> good teammates/low skilled enemies -> win -> medium teammates/medium skilled enemies -> win or lose (doesn't seem to matter at this point) -> bad teammates/high skilled enemies
Assuming matchmaking is still the same, or worse from when I had a "play 10 games as <legend>" challenge back in season 11, (in which I played duos with a friend who had the same challenge, and we both just kept skydiving off the map), you can literally test what matchmaking looks like by falling off the map at least 10 games in a row.
What you should see (assuming its not fixed), is that your teammate's levels, badges, and stats slowly rise up the more you throw away matches, while the champion team's levels, badges, and stats should also be go down to where it looks like your team would have an advantage. This is EOMM's way of trying to give you a win to make you feel like you're doing better, before cranking the difficulty back up.
This change is best shown when your team is wiped out quickly, and it doesn't seem to matter if you're solo queing, playing with friends, or what mode you're playing in as long as its not the firing range. I would say "don't go ruining matches for other players by dying right away", however chances are the match was already ruined by the EOMM, bad servers, zero audio, smurphs, and cheaters.
After me and my friend "played" our 10 matches, our 11th game was an utter joke, as everyone in the lobby played like bots or like it was their very first time in a match. No one had any kind of aim, no one had any sense of direction, or anything. We both were able to just hipfire each team we came across. This might be changed now, where its tough regardless of how many times you lose matches, but I doubt it.
@Midnight9746 I would even say its rigged to a point where i suspect shadowbanning. Getting the same unskilled Mates 3 times in a row when the MM says over 200 ppl in Queue ?
I didnt get any team mates with more frags than me the whole Season, got maybe 5-6 mates that actually matched my Rank from last season (but no mates that exceeded my rank at all). Mostly i get those Rookie players that somehow got to Gold this split without any aim or deeper understanding of how and where to drop, they just jump in the fire (mostly way to late) and die after 30sec ... and complaining about me splitting up and ratting them points they didnt even deserve in the 1st place.
Cant even remeber when i got my last win in Ranked ... i just play it to prove my point, work on my mental (this is maybe the best part about it, i dont get titlted anymore ... im just disappointed) and gather more data.
Btw, the devs read this stuff over here ... they now closed the option to quit the queue in ranked without penalty, thats why i had to play those 3 times in a row with the same brainiacs.
I dont know what i did, but im clearly getting shadow banned. my friend with way lower K/D, overall dmg/kills ect. gets Mates way above his rank when he queues up solo (i suspect the amount of money he spend on the game [about 10-15x my investment] to be a deciding factor ... P2W runs deep with EA). He also states that playing with me in a 2 man squad makes his games exponentially more sweatty as queuing alone.
