To much legends

Hi. Gonna start with another game to make my point.
I was a League of Legends player, started in early seasons with about 10-20 champions. Today there are over 130 of them. I can say that those numbers are definatly to much. After i started thinking i realized it no longer was the game i played but u still had the "chance" to play the good old days "champions" and i came to realize that my interest started to decline when there was to much to choices to counter and get countered. Than the bans were never enough. The plays stopped being enough to close the gap between counters.
Now to Apex.

Lately i started to realize that Apex still had a long time to fix this issue (In my oppinion it is a issue) by doing a few simple things.

Apex, like league of legends has a awesome Lore. They should keep to story rolling insted of going around in circles like League. Im not saying to age the legends. Just kill them of. A new chapter comes. Some crazy dude built a rocket launcher and killed one of the Legends. Just take the guy out of the game (return the money people spent on skins and stuff) and add the new guy.

Im not saying it wont make some people mad, especialy those that "main" those legends but it would definatly be better in the long run to keep the game fresh and interesting. Insted of making the Devs keep balancing every legend from Apex birth to now they would have a fix number of Legends. In my opinion this would make the game better because it would give the devs more time to balance the game and improve game quality. Quality over quantity. Like WTF is Mad Maggie. The pick rate for Maggie is the lowest of the legends. And it is new.

Just my take on this.

  • @Unpaid_Jesus In my opinion there aren't too many legends. While some may need revisions and love, there isn't too many.
You could potentially cycle legends, but rather with who are available to new players. The pick rates are somewhat skewed du to starters.

MM has a rather poor pick rate, it is true. I like her, but I would like 2 tacticals and a more damaging wrecking ball that actually broke things like Gibbys dome, Rampart's walls and Newcastle's little camper spot. This way you wouldn't be able to hide as much when facing her.

  • The issue with this is that removing a legend by "killing them off" is effectively disregarding an entire section of the community that actually enjoys either playing that legend or enjoys that Legend's lore. Each Legend's ability brings a new playstyle or new way of playing, there aren't two legends that are the exact same. Removing a legend will be disregarding a part of the community that enjoys a playstyle and would overall be unhealthy for the community because then other players will worry if their Legend will ever get removed. The current roster for an ability-based battle royal is decently large but it is not overwhelmingly large like you describe the League of Legends roster. It is also confirmed that the devs will be slowing down if not pausing on the number of Legends that will be released. My assumption is that they will release 2 more Legends to even out the character select screen and then focus their team on balance patches, lore/new content, bug fixes, and overall quality of life for the game.
