So for people who don't know, Apex posted a short video summarizing the rewards of the upcoming Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth event. And in it, you get a glimpse of what it will look like when tracking how many items or packs you still need to get the One-Winged Deathbox. And... Well there's a part where we can see how much a pack costs. Not counting the 90% discount seen in the video, ONE PACK costs 1000 Apex Coins...I'm sorry... 1,000 AC... $10. For a single pack that's entirely gambling. When normally, 1,000 AC gets you 10 normal Apex Packs. That means you have to spend $360 for a DEATHBOX skin.THAT is unacceptable. I get that the game needs to make money because it's free to play, but this is by far among the lowest EA and Respawn have gone to get money. These are even more expensive than Collection Event items. The prices NEED to go down.

Yeah the prices seem really high, hopefully they don't actually cost this much.Considering the Buster Sword as a drop as well, you could kind of say it would cost $180 per major event item, though that's luck-based so not completely correct.The event itself looks really dope, great trackers, great skins, great LTM... prices could get some more work though.Personally I don't really spend any money on microtransactions anyways, but seeing these kind of prices is just absurd.

If that really worked then one could say goodbye to many things, like almost all of the streaming platforms, Disney+, Amazon Prime, Netflix etc. This would include gaming like X-box, PSN, Steam, etc. If you lose access to the account you lose the items/games you purchased according to you in Germany. I still think the items in the event should be cheaper, however I do still think it is the consumers choice to purchase or not. It is not only the cosmetics that cost to make but the whole LTM goes into that as well, along with the cost of maintaining the game etc etc.

So I found this to be kind of interesting. I was just playing a match where an Octane with the Buster Sword R2R5 charged at me. I shot at them, and they blocked the shots and then tried charging me but died. I then killed Octane because I wanted the Buster Sword R2R5. Their Crypto teammate then tried to push me, but my Ash and Bangalore teammates stepped in and helped fight Crypto. Ash got a lot of hits in, and Bangalore used their tactical around us. I saw Crypto run out of the smoke and then I had knocked him down. I went ahead and killed him as well, so when the 3rd, (which was a Valkyrie) came running up, Crypto couldn't use their knockdown shield to help Valkyrie.Long winded story, I know, but as we were fighting Valkyrie, I had noticed that after I had killed Crypto, his deathbox did the animation of the $360 cosmetic, and when it fell down, it WAS the cosmetic.At first I had thought that Crypto spent the money on the packs, but remembered that Respawn had confirmed that the skin would be for those YOU killed, not your own box. I then looked at my teammates, and Ash had the Buster Sword Heirloom on their back. So basically if your teammates deal any kind of damage to an enemy to whom you then knock and kill, the deathbox would be the cosmetic you do not own if they own it themselves.This is something that should be reconsidered. (Understand that I find the whole event pricing and marketing a huge disgust, even though I've crafted a few packs), what should be reconsidered is the rarity of deathbox skins and who's cosmetic should be applied to deathboxes.The one to knock down the player should be the one who's cosmetic is applied to the deathbox, but one could easily argue its whoever kills the player afterwards. Eitherway, I can't argue which is better.The other part is the rarity; deathbox cosmetics should NOT be mythic. They should be common to legendary skins that can either be crafted, earned in the battle pass, or bought (at a fair price) in the Apex store. This deathbox skin could of very easily had been a legendary you could of drawn from the event packs or marked as an iconic skin and put into the store. It could of been bundled with a legend iconic skin and/or matching gun iconic skin for something like 4k-5k Apex coins going off EA's standard of pricing, or 3k- 3.5k going off more reasonable prices.The Buster Sword is also something that should of been marketed differently, not "buy all 36 packs otherwise its gone forever after the event ends". It says it has a "<1%" chance on the pack page, which translates to me as "less than 1%". That's insane and feels outright criminal. Yeah, I know one could then argue a simple "don't buy it then", but that's besides the point.We were promised this sort of thing won't happen again after they resold an heirloom rarity Peacekeeper skin that was a recolor of a battle pass level 100 skin. Both of these games are doing well and I don't recall ever hearing anyone complain about the prices like they do in Apex.When Respawn responded to the backlash from the Peacekeeper heirloom event, they said to next time, "vote with your wallets", so if you don't like the current prices, don't buy anything. @ExiledPhoenix42 Also consider the tactic of what they're doing with the Buster Sword Heirloom, there's a CHANCE to get it, a small chance, and after the event is over, the chance becomes zero. The only way to guarantee the heirloom, is to buy 36 packs.

They're trying to empty wallets.

So That Punch Kid who has enough disposable income to justify buying the heirloom gets it for free from EA. Respawn & EA are the absolute bloody worst: They released an absolutely terrible heirloom for Ash & then release the amazing Buster Sword for a bit under £360!!! 😤 I saw some streamer on twitter get it in his first pack as well, when he also could have justified buying it. If the event only had the usual 24 items & I could craft all the epics & buy the legendaries for 7500 (the two bundles in heirloom events) than I could definitely justify getting it, but I am on disability benefits so over £300 is just excessive to me. I know no one is going to care, but I just wanted to rant about the state of the cosmetics becoming even more pricey. I opened my free pack, didn't get it, bought the pack for 100 coins, didn't get it. I know there's another free pack next week or the following, but I highly doubt I am getting it. Sucks that I'm close to heirloom shards & I won't even be able to get the sword with them after the event because it's limited. All the streamers who didn't get it for free are just buying it & encouraging their greed.

You do know that you do not have to purchase anything, the choice to purchase or not is on the consumer.

I agree that the pricing is pretty steep and should be lower.

I understand your frustration and think that the prices should be a bit lower.

I will not begrudge those that get lucky with getting something from the free pack/s no matter their income, they get lucky good for them.

As for streamers or PRO Apex players they pay just like any one else, they have the disposable income from the job that they do, just like any other person it is a choice they have to make if they are going to spend their hard earned cash on a cosmetic or not.

Me I would love to have the Buster Sword for "free", and I do have the disposable income to by 36 packs to guarantee getting what I would like to have from the event, will I do that no because I chose to do other things with my money.

Will I buy a few packs and hope I get lucky, probably yes.

The choice is ours whether to purchase or not.

IMHO I do agree that the prices are way to step and if the prices were lower, that both EA and the Consumer would have a win win situation as more people would purchase if the price was lower, which would mean more income for EA.

heh in belgium the only way to get the sword is to pay the whole event full price so around 500€ since you can't buy packs and EA didn't give any other alternative.

Yeah the pricing is pretty high, though it costs around 270~ for the box from what I've calculated, so it's not as bad as some players think it is.
It is a reward for having all the items, so it's going to be quite pricey if players just want the deathbox.

@Asmodeus566my friend there is a term for something being disproportionately overpriced it’s called profiteering/usury in English I believe.. wich is for example forbidden in Germany…you might ofc find a loophole why it doesn’t grip here but still trying to defend it by saying you don’t have to buy it is weird, ea is pretty known for dirty practices in their monitization, even my gf knows it from what they do in sims…
