You do know that you do not have to purchase anything, the choice to purchase or not is on the consumer.
I agree that the pricing is pretty steep and should be lower.
@Asmodeus566my friend there is a term for something being disproportionately overpriced it’s called profiteering/usury in English I believe.. wich is for example forbidden in Germany…you might ofc find a loophole why it doesn’t grip here but still trying to defend it by saying you don’t have to buy it is weird, ea is pretty known for dirty practices in their monitization, even my gf knows it from what they do in sims…

I live in Germany, so tell me why a 25$ pair of Levi's in the US cost like 100 Euros here.
That is all consumer marketing and if the consumer does not like the price it is their choice.
Profiteering is a whole different thing and is not applicable here, look up the definition.
I am in no way defending the price, I actually wish it was lower but it is not.

@Asmodeus566StGB 291 Wucher
In English:
Whosoever exploits the predicament, lack of experience, lack of judgment or substantial weakness of will of another by allowing material benefits to be promised or granted to himself or a third person
Trying to tell me that it isn’t lack of judgement to spend that much for worthless pixels that an employee worked on once a couple of hours ?
I could give you very detailed discriptions of when Wucher can grip but they are all in German and not suitable for this forum I assume but her a short one in German.
Objektiv erfordert § 138 Abs. 2 BGB zunächst ein auffälliges Missverhältnis zwischen Leistung und Gegenleistung.
What you need to keep in mind and why your example doesn’t grip is because you get atleast materials in return that you can resell even, and they are produced 1by1. While something like a skin gets created once by a dev and sold to everyone, 1 time work that gets sold extremely overpriced without further effort by the seller…
On top of that the item becomes worthless the moment you buy it because you are not allowed to resell it… to sum it up you buy an item extremely overpriced with barely any effort to create that has 0 market value the moment you buy it and you think people that do such a deal don’t lack judgement ?
Now comes even the worst part you don’t even buy the item, it isn’t even yours, you buy the right to have it on your account…because as you for sure know the account is “property“ of ea and not you…
It’s sad that governments let this stuff fly without intervening, but the day will come where these disgusting practices with lootboxes etc will come to an end- Asmodeus5662 years agoHero+
Oh nein nicht die Strafgesetzbuch!! und auch die Bundesgesetzbuch!!
If that really worked then one could say goodbye to many things, like almost all of the streaming platforms, Disney+, Amazon Prime, Netflix etc. This would include gaming like X-box, PSN, Steam, etc. If you lose access to the account you lose the items/games you purchased according to you in Germany.
I still think the items in the event should be cheaper, however I do still think it is the consumers choice to purchase or not.
It is not only the cosmetics that cost to make but the whole LTM goes into that as well, along with the cost of maintaining the game etc etc.
